Nobody starts out knowing everything. If we all knew everything from the start we would not need this forum to exchange information. I personally knew two different guys who bought FJRs that were unaware of the built in handle. (Reading the manual would have helped). Once I showed them the little handle, and the fact that the bike had to lean farther away than they felt comfortable with, it was easy and simple.
My favorite centerstand story involved a friend who bought a used BMW R1150R. It was his first motorcycle since riding a Harley while in college back in the 60's. I rode it and put it back on the centerstand like I found it. He watched in amazement, then said "Oh is that how you do it?" I asked what he meant. "I do it sitting on the seat. I have trouble finding the kickstand so I just pop it up on that thing." I had to see him do this, he was able to pop it right up onto the centerstand while sitting on the seat. Dad and I strongly recommended a MSF course at that point.
