I regret trading off my Trooper Mark 3. Talk about excellent shooting and it had a Royal Blue finish on it. SWEET!

I have one of those! Bought it used @ a local gunshop when I first moved to this area; it's still my home defense gun. Mine has a satin finish.

Time to get Harley a big brother- a rotteweiler. A good rott will take care of three pits.

Hope Harley is not too traumatized and the same for the owners. I have no patience for this crap.
Now there's some advice that appeals to me. Our 'smaller' dog is part Rottweiler. Between him and his brother, they will scare off most potential attackers.

Don, so sorry to hear what happened. I can hardly imagine how you must have felt, knowing that both Shawna and Harley were in the middle of this mess. Hope you're able to get the situation resolved with the least unpleasant solution necessary.

Thanks SP, appreciated.

I got busy this weekend and did not visit the good neighbors.

We continue to keep Harley on a short free leash - and have not seen the BC on property at all this entire week..

Maybe it's best just to let this incident go..

but every time Harley is outside now, the Hondarosa is at the ready.

I guess that's the sad part of this - never had to 'be prepared' before.

Don't blow it off or there won't be a "record" if it happens again. If it does happen again you'll be reacting as if it's a repeat while the world around you will see it as a first time and not want to deal with it to your satisfaction.

Yep!

Don't wait until you have to say, "I wished I would have...."

FWIW, I'd talk to the owner of the BC and contact animal control...HOWEVER, next time either dog stepped onto my property I'd spend the 50 cents to put it out of my misery. It sucks to have your dog attacked by another dog, but like others on here asked, what happens when your wife is too close to the fight and gets bit or mauled? I LOVE dogs and don't care to shoot 'em if I can help it, but in a situation like that I wouldn't hesitate.

As far as the BC being friendly before, dogs do strange things when they team up with other dogs and begin to get that "pack mentality". Sometimes very docile dogs start killing all kinds of crap with their new-found pals. For the safety of someone MORE IMPORTANT than your dog, smoke 'em if they put you in that possition again.

Oh, buckshot doesn't "sting"...it's 9 (or 8 depending on the specific load for 2 3/4" 12 ga.) .32 caliber lead pellets that tear the hell outta whatever they hit. Even a rubber slug will punch straight through a dog at closer ranges (I know this from a friends experience...was HE surprised). Rock salt or a pellet gun are better bets if you're looking to go that route. Just remember, if it's coming out of the end of a lethal weapon, expect the results to be lethal.

For those who don't know, Pitbulls are a grossly inbredded breed. This causes them to be Unstable Mentally (even with their owners) with No Reason or Self Control like other breeds. Not good for an animal that possess massive muscle structure along with about 2500 lbs/psi of Jaw Strength !

That is why they are the #1 Breed involved with Attacks and Injuries and also the reason Insurance companies will not issue a Homeowners/Renters policy to those who own them or at least surcharge the premiums for increased Risks.
