All of the sudden, this thing is putting out a high pitched whine that makes me cring and prob giving the dog a headache as well. If I turn it off, it stops, for a while (few min) then starts again. WTF?!

I'm gonna get ear plugs. so I can keep working. Do I need to shoot this thing or is there a fix? Approx 4 yrs old. A MAG Innovision 20 inch

try +ctrl +alt +(down or left or right and up to fix) arrows

It won't help your problem but it is a good way to screw with your friends at work.

High voltage flyback is going out new monitor time try newegg. :yahoo:

Try changing your refresh rate and see if it helps.

display properties, settings, advanced, on the adapter tab. Try 60, 70, or 72 and see if it helps.

This is making the assumption that it's a CRT monitor and not an LCD. :glare:

Ride your bike here. I'll give you a new monitor, a place to sleep and a dinner before your ride home. Then, take records and qualify for some kind of IBA ride like:

"Monitor Madness 3000"

Gee, ya think a bungee would hold it?
Yep. I have hauled my mac and studio display on the back of mine.

If you twist my arm, I might throw in a trash bag to protect it from the elements.

Do you have something emitting RF nearby? That's something we ran into all the time at my last job.

If you haven't added anything new lately, it might be time to upgrade.

Of course, it could be caused by all the time spent visiting "those" websites you know.....

Be brave.. Find the flyback xmfr, stick a toothpick between the primary and secondary. Old TV trick. Then, after you pick your butt up off the floor go buy a new monitor. :D

Time for a new monitor. My neighbor down on the cube farm had a screaming monitor, only he couldn't hear that frequency. Gave me a splitting headache and he didn't get a new monitor there would have been midnight violence done to his old one...

Willy, Thanks! I think it has worked.

The monitor was set to 60 and I changed it to 70. So far so good.
