:) I did it! I decided a few months ago I was going to do it and have done several 500-700mile rides.

Well, today I rode 1157 documented miles!

I heard about a great bakery/cafe in Santa Fe, NM and decided to ride there for lunch. Left home 3:30 am from east of Oklahoma City and ate lunch at The Santa Fe Bakery. Then saw a few quick highlights and headed back. Arrived home at 9:30 pm.

PS - If your iron butt goes to mush, will it return to iron later? I figured out several more seat and feet positions while on the ride.

When I did mine with the stock seat, it was the bun shuffle between pillion & regular seat, then stand for 5 minutes, then back to the shuffle. After the SS1Ks I bought a Russell, no more problems...

Congrats on the SS1K ! Now organize that paperwork & do the route map & do the write-up & send it all in along with the check so you can get than nifty license plate holder...

It's amazing what standing on the pegs for 20 seconds will do for your butt. I think it's all about letting the blood back in.

Congrats on the SS1k.

I always like to see it when somebody develops a new habit that isn't as expensive as drugs and doesn't rot your teeth. Congrats!

Thanks to everyone for the support! My wife still looks at me with that "I think he's gone mad" look.

I'll definitely get all the stuff mailed in on monday. And yeah, a Russell custom seat would have helped ALOT. I did use a sheepskin pad with a layer of closed-cell foam under it. I found out I had to have some extra pad or something when I rode a 600 mile warm-up lap earlier. Standing on the pegs does help as well as stretching and walking during the stops.

Now I dunno about that BBG but I may have a new 'habit'!

Congrats Luke!

But you left out the most important detail....How was the lunch? ;) You drive almost 1200 miles to eat at a particular restaurant, was it worth it?

:D congratulations :p

I have not done one yet but would love to do one next year.

standing on the pegs, riding down the highway at 60 plus and having the wind circulate around you is great for preventing monkey butt syndrone!!!!!!!!

BTW the bike rides so smooth like this  , but the people around you give a strang look

Yes it was a great lunch! I highly recommend The Santa Fe Bakery to anyone in the area. It is at 500 Cordova St. They have a nice business there and have a large variety of interesting dishes. It's a cross between a sidewalk deli and a mom and pop bistro with added baked goods. There's something for everyone.

Congrats!

I am hoping to get it done this year, but there's a BIG difference between doing and hoping to do. Good on you!

Hanging the legs helps, too.....try it out....unless you are six, four, or some thing..,..

I love it   . Now tell us how you really feel. Congratulation on your 1K. :drinks: I know how hard the last 200 is.
