Went on an almost really nice group ride today to Carmel, Ca. Except for one turn, it would have been a great ride. Heading into a bline curve, looked up at an oncoming pickup, next thing I know I'm off the road, on my back, fortunately on grass and not rapped around a tree or rock. Bruised bike, bruised thigh, and bruised ego. Knocked off and split my Cee Bailey windsheild, knocked off the left mirror and side bag. Bummer, could have been much worse. Finished the ride. Still have the stock windsheild. Have to start putting the pieces back together again. Hopefuly the experience will make me a better rider. I'm sure many of you have had similar experiences.

Sorry to hear of your get off and your ok for the most part.

Pix or it didn't happen!

Was it one of them, this would be a great road if it wasn't one lane, if it wasn't two way traffic?

Glad you and the bike can be fixed.

Note to self: Don't look up in bline curve. Might see pickup and fall on grass.

Glad you're okay Rodger.

Glad you are able to tell us about it. Please tell us more about the conditions and circumstances.

Whale poop!

Sorry for the bruises, glad you're okay and the bike is operable.

In the cruel light of dawn, you'll likely discover a few more bruises....

We learn by doing. Glad you and the FJR are not banged up too bad. It could have been a whole lot worse.

Just remember, stay focused, don't ride over your head and you will be Ok.

Inquiring minds need to know. Was it gravel, did you touch the brakes or just 'go wide'?

Glad to hear you and the mighty Gen1 survived.

Al.

I'm not a real fan of group rides. I used to lead them and participate, but found members back in the group quit focusing on their own ride and had dumb accidents. I much prefer the rides that are with one or two friends, or that share a common destination with larger groups. What the O.P. described sounds like a case of being startled by an oncoming vehicle followed by target fixation. It can happen to anyone, and is pretty common in groups.

As far as me watching Bustanut take a dump in Carvers tank and abuse Ray's goats...yeah, I was pretty appalled. Barry's reputation is well-earned and you'd all do well to steer clear. That wasn't the worst of it. He tried to hit up OM's ear..I just watched that too. Why is everyone hitting on O'Keiff anyway?
