So I had some surgery and I've been out of commission for a while. More on that in another post. This Saturday, after losing 50 pounds in 42 days, I put the FJR through her paces. Doc finally gave me full clearance to ride a month after surgery and it was 31 days...

I was rusty but she ran like a princess, though the suspension is harsh now. It was a time to try out some new gear, like a radar detector, flip camera I got for XMAS, tankbag I got from a forum member, mixit-2, et al. I had some business Saturday morning in Coos Bay. My wife was in Salem for a conference most of the week. Hmmmm....

I suggested she drive over to Lincoln City and grab a room at the Casino Friday night and I'll be up after I completed a little business. Cool! Weather was for showers and highs in the low 50's. 36 degrees when I headed out and 30 degrees over the pass to Coos Bay.. low to mid-thirties most of the way. PERFECT! Nothing was getting me off the Feejer. I tried my FLIP camera on my Rambone and made some clips. To come later is the Devil's Churn and Cape Perpetua on Rte 101...

But here are some of my favorite sections of Rte 42 going over to the coast. An overlooked road in my humble opinion.

Shot through my windshield. Not up to Fairlaner's or Old Michael's standards, but I'll keep working on it. One good thing about the FLIP is it makes things appear slower than they really are.

For some reason youtube didn't like this video clip in HD, but nothing to do. Some of the riding is fun if you can tolerate old-school quality

Glad your doing well, hope the family is too!

Great view of the coast mountains! Been on that road a hundred times as a kid, can't wait to come back up so we can ride together.

Having the valves checked this week, so after a few local runs, I'll be able to plan another LD adventure!

I'll ride with you anytime Richard. Let's make it a time I'm not working, K? ;)

I liked the passing of the guys in colors too. Though another favorite was the tight, decreasing radius right hander ner the end of the second clip: it makes the boring cruise into Myrtle Point worthwhile.

Amazing how this camera makes things look like they are going slower than they actually are. I was moving with some quickness at times. Better for me probably. :D

Here is the next installment. Probably more interesting to those who have never ridden this section of the PCH:

good for you Michael...you are deserving ya know...now eat healthy and not too much crawfish and only the 6" subway and Nawlins' Po Boy

I'm asking the Admins to block your account when I post food **** :yahoo:

now ride safe and be careful out there,

Mike

yeah yeah yeah, you know where <_<

Dammit' Shiny,

I thought we weren't going to show the "Others" our private roads!

Next thing ,you're going to be showing them 138 and 38. Not to mention Tiller Trail, Cascade Lakes Highway, and.....uh...

Never mind. It's always raining here, and the speed limits suck. The roads are barely paved. Stay home.

I'm glad your surgery went well, and you are up and about. I'm off on weekends now; let's ride!

Still need to send your bag lid to Geraud?

John

You and I would ride just fine together. My favorite past time is passing pirates. Not that it is much of challenge. Glad to see your back riding again.

I love you too John! I have one more quick vid of 38, but it is raining a bit so I doubt anybody will care. I was going to show them Tyee road but the battery died on the camera... terrible road. Nobody wants to ride that pothole-ridden straight piece of junk... except maybe Gregory. I showed him that one  .

I'm heading to Vegas on the FJR Saturday or Sunday (depending on cash). I'll be back on the 28th... I'll catch up with you. I ran out of money for cosmetics, but ya never know if I win in Vegas...

Somebody asked what a rambone is: ask 08FJR4ME. I just got an Escort 9500ix. And interestingly, if you go fast enough raindrops don't hit the electronics behind the windshield :D .

Thanks for the well wishes guys. I'll start another thread with a purpose.

please put $100 on black for me... :yahoo:
Paypal the cash and I promise to not put the money in my pocket and tell you that you lost. :taunt:

best of all the trip is tax deductable, including transportation and room costs because I'm going to a conference required to keep my NP license! :yahoo:

OK, this project is finally ending. Route 38 on the way home with some rain spattering the windshield.

Some notes:

1) There is nothing worth filming between the Newport bridge north to Lincoln city.

2) No matter what you do, do not go near the Casino in Lincoln City. Run down and pitiful, if you can find it with poor signage. Walmart has a bigger sign for God's sake!

3) Never take an overpriced, mildew ridden, closet-sized room with no air conditioning or internet service. Get a room at a motel.

4) Tangers is a cool outlet mall in Lincoln City, and has a Japanese restaraunt that is a bit pricey but clean and top-notch right in the outdoor mall.

5) If you lose weight, buy new raingear so the doorman at the casino doesn't laugh as your rubber pants fall down to your knees.
