Glad you made it! I've been caught a few times, but don't intentionally ride in the white or icy stuff. On Christmas eve I had to chain up the front tires on my 4 wheel drive pickup to make it up the steep private road I live on - there's no way I'm taking the FJR on that road with those conditions!
But as you've experienced, you're usually fine if you go (and stop) very cautiously. My only problem with getting caught this year was the amount of ice and slush in the work parking lot. It's hard to back up a FJR into the slush because the tire doesn't want to roll and there's limited traction with your boot to push. If you push too hard and a boot slips, then it's all over but the crying. But I too made it unscathed.
