https://www.smcycle.com/BMW/index.php?productID=2823 Hi Barb, I don't know how often you get down to Victoria; but Island BMW currently has a blue BMW F650GS Twin with factory lowering kit. You could also add a lower Corbin seat too.
Once again regret not knowing in Nakusp you'd an interest in dualsport riding. I would've had you ride mi Salma Hayek 650
Dangit, that would have been great!

Been thinking more along the lines of this for a start clicky. Short enough stock I can straddle it, and those fat tires make me laugh...

(guessing they might do ok in mud too, dunno. NOT that it ever gets muddy here  )
In your part of the world you might look for the 250 Sherpa by Kawasaki. They wern't sold in the states but were a great little bike. Unlike the KLR250 they are liquid cooled, electric start and had a all stainless exhaust system so it doesn't rust in the salt air you have there. Have fun.
With a 32.7" seat height, I am out... :(

That's only an inch higher than the 2009 FJR seat in the low position (31.69"):

https://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products...80/0/specs.aspx

Is 1 inch that vital? If so..

Here is the 2009 Honda CRF230L with a 31.9 inch seat height:

https://www.honda-motorcycles.org/2009CRF230L.php

And a side-by-side comparison with the Super Sherpa:

https://www.motorcycle.com/specs/kawasaki/o...f-reg/230l.html

EDIT: I noticed you have the 2005 FJR; seat height was/is 32.2 inches:

https://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/yamaha_fjr_1300_2005.php

So is 1/2 inch too much difference? Just trying to help.

That's a helluva thing to ask a woman...*LOL*

BUT, I am tippy-toeing my FJR as it is, so another inch or 1/2, especially on uneven ground, would not help my confidence level out.

All good possibles tho...Thanks!

My only real fear is of cougars. Vancouver Island has the largest cat/human density in the world and they have been know to take a rider off a bike before. Can't be a nice way to go....Am guessing a SPOT tracker won't be able to connect from inside a cougar...*LOL*
Cougar, Smoogar

Here we have mosquitoes in the summer that can carry you off...Big as small fighter jet...attack from above and behind...

Guess the only good thing is SPOT will work at 1000' altitude if you keep it in the inner cell phone pocket of your jacket

Luckily Alligators are relatively slow on dry land, but don't don't don't run off the road into a canal...

There's enough water here and a bridge every 4-5 miles that my reflective vest is a Mae West...

let's ride safe and be careful out there,

Mike in Nawlins'

Don't forget it's the motion in the ocean Barb ;) , some suspensions compress more than others. I think it will take a seat-of-the pants trial and error comparison sitting on them, just to see which one moves you the most  . And it isn't always length but width  and some seats are narrower and spread your legs less.... ok I better stop now. I think you get my point. The KLR is high but my footing is actually better because the suspension is softer and the seat is narrower.

I think I hijacked my own thread.

well, just hit 50 in Dec and now at this point in my life, my thighs continually hit together

is that a problem riding in the dirt ????

<the PGR State Captain was an Army Command Sgt Major in Vietnam and commands "Atten Hut" for us to render honors;

I snap to as best I can, and he says "Oliver, stand at attention"; I answer "I am, but my thighs keep me from touching my heels, but I digress>

I was using some literary license. Yeah, that's it, just funnin' ya!

Just because your married don't mean you can't be lonely! Especially when the woman-o-the-house visits those northern Kali relatives with a grandson for a while... I'm just sayin.

Trust me on this, not kidding: odot, Bustanut Joker, Radio Howie, SkooterG and Old Michael would actually appear normal in Chicken!
Don, you did NOT put me on the same short bus with those shoptards!

There goes the neighborhood.
