Well, just for the next month, and it has nothing to do with the weather.

I tripped and fell, breaking my right arm up near the shoulder.

I also won't be posting much on the forum, since I can no longer touch type.

Really sorry to hear that, hope you heal up ok.

But it shouldn't stop you from posting, I've never "touch-typed" in my life. Just learn the old-fashioned way ;) .

Ow! Hope you heal up soon and get back on the road. It's always good if you are going to inure yourself, that you do it away from the motorcycle.

Take care of yourself and all you need to type is one functional finger and a couple working brain cells. It's worked for a lot of us. If you need somebody to exercise your bike, I'm sure one of the PNW crew will help. :) :) :)

Lauren,

That's a bad break, so take the time it needs to heal. The worst thing you can do is to try to do too much, too soon. Take calcium citrate+Vitamin D. Any pharmacy has this mix in one pill (one is not much good without the other). Citrical is the high-dollar option, there. Otherwise, your body will rob calcium from the rest of your bones, to repair the broken bone.

Check out Dragon NaturallySpeaking. The program and headset will cost ~$US70.00 and the headset is handy for other stuff, as well. It types your speech faster than most people talk, and it gets better, each time you use it. It's great for getting everything on the screen at once, just close your eyes and talk. Then you can arrange your ideas (Cut-and-Paste) into good order, without worrying about losing a thought. You will see some errors at first, but as you make corrections, the program learns, and mistakes will be less frequent. It does come up with some outrageous puns at times, but that's just free entertainment.

Best wishes,

Infrared

Maybe you can start a thread similar to your tool and safety item threads. Could be, "Things to do when you're board out of your mind." Or, "Pain drugs I enjoy the most."

Thank you for all the well wishes.

I have a question. Since I have never stored a bike for the winter, do I have to do anything to the bike?

I'd add lucas fuel treatment make sure it's topped off, get it on a battery tender, and keep it on the center stand. Beyond that it can sit that way quite a while.

Fuel stabilizer (eg. stabil), let it run 10 min to get the stabilizer thru the system. If the oil has more than a few hundred miles on it then an oil and filter change would be a good idea. Battery tender. Cover with an old sheet to keep the dust off. Some put mothballs around the bike to keep the mice out of exhaust pipes, air box and wiring. Sit on the bike weekly while yelling varoom, varoom.

Bummer. Hope heal quickly and are able to get back on the saddle. As others stated, fuel treatment - Seafoam, available at Walmart for <$10 - is a great option. Add it according to the directions, run it for a few minutes to allow it to get into the entire system. Battery tender and center stand perch will finish the process for a month or two.

Thank you for all the well wishes.

You don't need to do a thing. Park it...don't start it. Fuel additives are way over-rated. If longer than 1-month you might want a battery tender. Real storage is when you think you won't ride for 4 to 6 months. That shouldn't happen to you in the PNW. I just got mine out for a ride after having it sit since late October.

Were you out celebrating early?

Heal well and quickly.

Best regards

All the best with healing quickly!

I've seen those Dragon commercials a lot lately, and would really like to have something like that, instead of two finger typing.

Rats!

So sorry to hear about your injury - and with a brand new FJR in the garage.

We'll be looking forward to your healing and rides when your strength returns.
