Last night while I was out walking the dogs the house was robbed and I lost credit cards and cash. Luckily my wallet with everything was locked in the car from working. $125 dollars and a big bucket of coins. Last time I cashed in the bucket was half full and was around $380. This time it was plum full so I am guessing $500. Left the gps and camera, sunglasses, pocket remote and car keys alone. In through the side door of the garage and into the kitchen. Boom all gone. Wouldn't of happened if I would of locked down tight. Totally left all the garage alone. Keys in bikes, not anymore etc. Karma's been good but I guess sometimes sh** happens. Just a little vent, makes me realize how lax I am about trust. Grew up in So. Dak. Didn't lock the doors and most times the keys were in the ignition. Times have changed.

Feejer,

I feel for you and especially how times have changed. It is a very tough experience to go through and I know how it is.

Good Luck on your insurance claim if you make one and hope it does not happen again to you.

All the best.

Sure makes you feel violated, doesn't it? Sorry to hear it.

As I sit here watching a documentary about meth....

Wow dude, don't rant here. Soon the know it all's with all the advice will be telling you how you asked for it...oops...sorry.

Anyway, I am sorry. That's a terrible feeling. Don't forget that these are not the days of our childhoods anymore. I remember my parents almost never locked their house and my dad "hid" his guns under the bed. These days, I have an expensive alarm system, security lights and two safes. You might want to notify your local banks just in case the burglar(s) decide to go to one to turn the coins to cash. Banks have great cameras and that many coins would get some attention. Toe is probably right though. The proceeds were probably taken while high on Meth and will go towards buying more Meth. It was a self-correcting mistake. Glad nothing worse happened!!

It sounds like they were either kids, to amateurs, or in a big hurry to get in and out. Though the heavy container of coins wouldn't make sense for a fast get away. Pro's would have hit the higher dollar value items you said were left.

I have had 1 or 2 incidents where I felt like my house was being cased in the last month. Sure as hell, I talked to a neighbor who is a city cop, and he said they are chasing 2 very active crews that are working our area. They are hitting most homes during the day, when people are at work, but since we have young kids, someone is at our house most of the time during the day. Still, we have gone to locking the doors even while we are home during the day. It makes me glad I have a decent alarm, a loud and fierce LOOKING dog, and worst case more than 1 or 2 guns where I can get to then if the poop really hits the fan while we are at home.

More than anything, this has reignited the fire under my wife's and my desire to move.

I personally know three people (three different homes) in Baltimore who have stories of either being "out front" or "out back" gardening while the opposite door was closed but not locked. Guess what happened? That's right!!!

Baltimore: it's balls out!

My assistant manager had his home broken into a few months ago. The jerks made off with a bunch of stuff, including a razzle dazzle two way radio antenna he uses on his truck. He’s down town and sees his antenna going down the road on a truck. Calls the police with the license plate number and the guys are arrested.

I hope the jerks that broke into your place get caught!

Probably an addict looking for quick drug money - your phone and other studff is harder to dump and has less value than you think - and your losses don't make it worth filing a clami, assuming you're covered for lost cash.

Essentially, they stole your Smuggler or your new ZUmo.

An alarm MIGHT have helped, but stickers from a real alarm company are almost as effective.

In 2008 you lock your doors and store stuff out of sight. Doesn't matter where you live.

The Zilla is right dude. Admit it, rider error and you didnt lay it down you simply didnt lock the door, shame shame shame.

Seriosly though, dont you just feel violated? Sounds like kids though I would bet that if you pretend that nothing happened but get some hidden video they will do it again.

Them fargin' bastages....

I hope they OD.

Totally sucks, dude. But it coulda been worse.

And, of course, it figures that it happened while walking the dogs - dogs being an excellent deterrent, even small yippy dogs.

Makes me wonder if it was someone watching you leave the house. Maybe a neighbor (any crack heads or degenerate teens live nearby?) or an out-of-place car in the neighborhood? Any of your neighbors have any problems and / or see anything suspicious?

Totally sucks dude! I hate that helpless/hopeless/violated feeling.

Had my pickup broken into years ago in Santa Ana, CA. Thieves took my $40 Kraco stereo and ripped the speakers out of my doors. Left close to $50 in change and small bills in the ash tray.

The scum bags junkies were local and new when you walked the dog. ANy real theif would of taken it all .

Feejer/Weejer man,

Sorry to hear of this. I think you meant to say your house had been burglarized. Glad to hear they didn't tear up your house (too bad) and didn't get the good stuff. Check to make sure they didn't swipe any extra keys (to cars, your bike, sheds, your house ect...) or any of your personal identity information. A lot of times if people get in/out ( they got away with it and/or they don't think you noticed) they may target your house again.

Take care,

WW
