Just wanted to write something about my little dog.

This past week, starting Monday, she has been so sick (throwing up etc) so I took her to my vet.

Thought it was just an upset tummy. As the week progressed I tried my very best to get her to eat, even changing her food, but all of this week was spent in and out of the animal hospital.

She was so special to me, as FiFi came part of the divorce package ,as the ex could not be bothered to look after her, this after I got FiFi for the ex when I was working abroad.

So, this Friday off we go to the emergency animal hospital to get an ultra sound done on the doogie. The Doctor found a "small" restriction in an area near her stomach. My vet advised me that I had two options, operate or put her down. Of course I wanted to give her a fighting chance to see if this was something that was an easy fix.

At about 8pm I received a call from the Doctor informing me that in fact little FiFi was very sick with cancer down near an area of the stomach, much larger than the ultra sound had let them to believe. Coupled with the fact that the "old girls" heart was "faltering" during the procedure, so I gave them my permission to gently put her to rest.

FiFi was 12 human years old when she died, and all of this took less than two weeks to bring her from what I deemed to be a fit and healthy dog, to a gravely sick one. My little daughter will also miss this little "mutt" very much.

RIP FiFi (at least you wont be chasing anymore UPS drivers down the path).

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Keep safe out there.

Taff,

Sorry for your loss! Pets occupy a special place in our hearts and loosing them is tough.

My experience, in a month or so... a puppy helps heal the wound.

Thanks for sharing!

:rip_1: :bye2:

Sounds like twelve great years, without too much pain at the end, and you are blessed by that.

Sorry to hear about your loss Taff. Thank goodness that Fifi didn't suffer too much during the period between good health and the end. Take a wander around the forum and you'll find a lot of animal lovers here.

Sorry for your loss. Dogs give their love and devotion to us and ask next to nothing in return. You can't say that about most people.

Sorry to hear that Taff.

Dog's give us unconditional love and friendship. The rarely complain, and they're alway happy to see us.

She'll be waiting for you when your time comes, ready to play in a sunny meadow.

so sorry taff...

this board is full of friends of animals...

they were very supportive during the loss of my 2 'healthy' dogs to the cancer monster...

grieve and cry...

live and laugh...

Some of my favortie people are dogs. We currently have six. The last one we lost was nearly 19 years old.

They are always worth the trouble.

RIP FiFi (at least you wont be chasing anymore UPS drivers down the path).
Sorry you lost your pal. You really went all out to help Fifi.

My avatar shows Victor in remission from mast cell cancer. A year later he developed lymphoma and he went pretty quickly with that.

From the bottom of my heart (and FiFi) may I say how much all of your replies to my post have helped me out today.

Took the Feeja down to the animal hospital to settle the bill, pick up her collar and say a big "thank you" to all of the staff there.

The Doctor took the trouble to save a "lock" of her hair and a little bit of her toe nail, I didn't even think to ask last night.

On the way back up "five" the rain relented, sun shone and then I knew FiFi was in her special play ground in the sky.

Also stopped off at my vet to thank her and the staff. Amy (FiFi's vet) was very upset, she did not think that this was going to be so bad.

Anyway, going to mount the "steed" and go do some photography now.

One last thing; I am really proud to be a member of this forum and can fully say to anyone just joining this board, look, listen, learn and be humble..great things come from these simple words.

Take care riding everyone,

Be safe, be smart, ATGATT.

Warmest regards to you all.

Just lost a beloved critter myself-amazing how bad it can feel, but they become a real part of you, your routine, your life. The loss is no less than that of anyone or anything that has become so synonymous with your life. Sorry to hear of it, a new friend can help the process.

Very true words radman, thanks - :) )

TriggerT,

You are so correct, that is why this world is in such a state. No time, no love, no respect, no feelings for anyone else.

This is very hard for me. I only hope FiFi was not in pain.

Came home tonight and nearly called her name for her to go out for a walk and pee, old habits die hard - :) )

Of all the people that have come and gone in my life, it's the dogs I miss the most! Sorry to hear of FiFi's battle. my condolences.

Sam and Jake send theirs as well

Thanks so much evilmedic13!

You have two really beautiful looking doogies there - :) )

Is that your full time job, a medic.

If so may I say just how thankful I am to you guys. This June past (the second to be precise) I was hit by a car near my home when I was riding my 8 week old CBR 1000 RR. This lady, 61 years old, had no licence or insurance. I ended up in intensive care for punctured lung, broken ribs and damage to knee and hand. I had been on the race track so I was in full leathers, which saved my life.

Of course my racing helmet was toast but again I always wear full gear no matter the temperature.

My riding buddy picked up the bike and took it to the dealership. Frame split, bike totalled. It could have been worse.

It's sure been and "up and down" year for me.

Take care in your job, you have my highest respect for all that you do.

Ride safe, keep it ATGATT.

Hey rangerk9, cool avatar!

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, a dog's life is far too short.

My little girl will miss giving her baths, it taught her to respect animals and at least FiFi was a good mentor. If nothing else in my daughters life she has learnt so many good things about life, people and most importantly respect for all, this for her adult life.

Take care, and if you serve in the forces, God be with you always.
