The shop where I bought my '06 Feej now sells KTM. Most of the sales staff personally own these. (I guess they get a good employee discount) It's like a cult, or something, over there. They really, really like them. The YouTube vids of people screwing around on these make them look like a hell of a lot of fun. ENJOY!

Smitty, I just want to know when you're getting those wheels Chromed! Looks like a fun bike to me!

I think you should keep the Feejer too. Everyone needs at least two bikes.

Yeah, I can't believe Smitty got the Halloween version. But then, you KNOW it's a KTM!

It's going to be really sad to go down to Hooterville and have Smitty smoke me on a DIRT BIKE.

When's MY test ride? Can you actually keep a bike for a month or two so I can ride it? Sheesh. Smitty changes bikes like some guys change their underwear.

The ADV bug got me too. I'm selling my CRF450X for either a 950 Super Enduro or 990 Adventure. In fact, I'm making the 600 mile trek to Houston next week-end to get a close-up on these bikes........maybe even sneak a peak at the HP2. Smitty, keep us wannabes updated on your farkles for the KTM.

Smitty,That's a nice lookin ride.If you ride off road with it to much you'll spend more time cleaning it then riding.

As I recall you are a fanatic about keeping your bikes clean.Good luck with the new baby.

NICE!!

haven't been on the 990, but the 950 is one great bike in the dirt, not to mention a fantastic canyon carver. I'm sure the 990 is all that and more. Congrat's on the new bike. Please add me to the jealous list, and have fun!!!!

These are ultra-cool, great-performing bikes and I have come close to pulling the trigger several times (especially with the new FI models out now), but wow, there is some odd stuff going on under the covers with that bike, especially with the water pump. I'm going to continue to hold off until they've turned the corner on the QC problems.

Looks like a ton of fun. What's the maintenance schedule like on the LC8? I've heard they're pretty easy to wrench on yourself, but they require a decent amount of attention.

Congrats!!! Sure have heard alot of good things about her! Sorry you had to sacrifice the FJR, hopefully, you'll get another soon! A man can live, and be happy with one wife, but one bike???????

Where'd you hear this? They're neat bikes, but not easy to work on - very densely packed which means a lot of stuff has to come off to do virtually anything, including often having to remove the two gas tanks and all the crossfeed plumbing. And even simple stuff like oil changes is fairly complicated with two oil filters - the book rate on an oil change is two hours labor. Valves are shim-adjusted and there's an initial check at 600 miles (dealers will tell you to skip it, but there are a lot of valves WAY off at this initial check), and then every 10K.

These are thoroughbred, racing-oriented bikes with maintenance rquirements to match.
