Zero skid marks into the pole makes it an unguided missile, like a sleeping driver accident. Bad news for whatever gets in the way. You are really fortunate to have had the pole there and the lady was just as lucky to be in a truck, buckled, etc.

But if her statement was half-accurate about her coughing and passing out (which fits the lack of skids), I hope you got that into the witness report. She ought to be taken off the road till the docs can figure out her problem.

Holy sheet!

I'd rather be lucky than good. B) Enjoy life, you just got a renewal on your lease.
+1

Also glad (for the young'ns sake) that she was in a truck. If she woulda been in a puddle-jumper, she and the young'n may not have walked away.

As I was treating the child the mother stated she started coughing and blacked out.
I hate to say it, but that's usually code for "I was reaching into the back seat/glove box/purse/radio/CD case and not watching the road, but just for a couple of seconds."

By the time the judge lets her loose from the doctors she might wish she'd owned up to a moment of inattentiveness.

OTOH, if she actually does have a health problem developing that makes her a hazard behind the wheel, well and good that nobody was hurt in the discovery.

Edit: Hey, just noticed the truck stopped right at the drain. Easy clean-up! :D

Dude... that could have ended real bad; it's a good thing the wires didn't snap and fry your butt. It's hard to tell, but is the speed limit sign that she took out say 30 mph? If so, is it possible to take out that sign and the friggin' telephone pole, plus do that much damage to the truck going only 30 mph?

I honestly think she was more in the 45-55mph range. I don't see 30mph doing that myself. The truck sheered it off right at ground level like it was nothing.

Another thing about the cable/wire.....I think it was a guide wire that fell in front of the bike, Amongst all the noise I definitely recall hearing that distinct sound of a cable breaking. As the truck was coming to a stop I recall looking up at the lines above me, that's when I realized the pole just to my right had broken also, then looked down to see the cable finishing wad up in front of the bike.

Glad you're Ok Mike and good on ya for promoting a great positive image by helping out, most here would have done the same I'm sure. Good Karma !

You ARE Blessed,

Bobby

That was close!!! I was there last year!! It might have been me.........but I digress........The ride up the incline railway was cool, as was the rock park that's at the top of the road.

Definately somebody was watching out for you. Cant say the same for my sisterinlaw 6 months ago. She walked 5 to 6 miles almost everyday. sometimes with her grandchildren in a stroller. She had just turned 50 that year and was allways health conscious. Well the short of it is two high school kids on there way to school hit her head on and then hit a tree. The tree didn't move and that was her last day on earth. Turns out the kid had medical condition and wasn't even charged with anything. He blacked out and she didn't have a chance. No skid marks either.

Take every day as a blessing.

The first word (top left) of the yellow free parking sign on the right says it all. Weren't you paying attention? :p Glad you came out ok. That could of been really ugly. U buy a lottery ticket yet?
