I had the same problem the first few days I rode my 05'. I got the grip puppies and just got used to the bike and it is no longer a problem. T.

I had the same issues with my '05. I found that by adding a bar riser (if I remember correctly, I used a Genmar riser), relieved my wrist pressure. And for the vibration, I added the heavy Throttle Meister (weighted) Bar Ends which helped somewhat. I also added one of those slip on throttle palm levers, which helped too. Anything you can add to allow you to release your grip on the throttle occasionally, even for a second or two, (Vista Cruise, Throttle Meister, etc), will definitely help.

Also if you have large hands (like I do), something to increase the diameter of the grips (replacement larger diameter grips, or slips-on) will help too.

A "cherry red" 05? Maybe it's a repaired one, with a little extra vibes?

The only problem I have with my '06 is the throttle. My hand starts to hurt. I didn't do the throttle mod. My last long trip was from Tuscaloosa to Indianapolis and the only problem I have (the only one you remember is your worst one) was my hand hurting from holding the throttle. I got a throttle rocker but that POS is more trouble than it's worth.

I'm heading to Darlington, SC for a NASCAR race this weekend (no, not a Nascar fan--just an excuse to ride). Just installed a Throttlemeister so hopefully my hand problems are solved. I'm sure my next "sore point" will be somewhere else.

Also, some people don't like the grip puppies but I think they're great. Increases the diameter of the grips and may reduce vibes, though I never found the vibes to be an issue--quite smooth for an inline 4, I think.

The only other "comfort" mod I've made was the "bead rider" and that's the cheapest and most effective mod ever--keeps the seat dry (CRUCIAL) and minimizes pressure points. Not pretty to look at but you're sitting on it most of the time anyways. Yes, my buddies were all skeptical but the ones who have bought one now swear by them.

Hey oldryder, I've had the same issues on my 05 and my Cruiser (99 Victory) I'm my own rolling test bed for experiments and modifications. That's how one has to approach this, bikes are universal, we are not. I have not been overly kind to my body over the years, I have not maintained it according to the maintenance manual, it is not as strong, flexable and resiliant as it used to be, I take better care of my "stuff" than myself....ok, enough of that! Here are some things I've done to the FJR:

1) Heli risers = brought bars up & back: helped some

1a) 2 Advil = helps alot

2) Grip puppies = fatter, softer grip: helped some

2a) 3 Advil = helps more

3) Salamander bar end weights = 16 oz on each end = helped some

3a) 4 Advil = much, much better

4) filled both bars with #8 lead shot = helped some, with bar end weights steering seemed "heavy"

5) Removed Salamander bar end weights = seemed better

5a) Potato Vodka cocktails after ride = good

6) Tryed that Master Yoda stuff = much better (still working on it!)

6a) More Potato Vodka = much better (after ride)

7) Had my seat rebuilt thru the Bill Mayer group buy = my a$$ is so happy I don't even feel my hands/wrists anymore

7a) with the Potato Vodka of course

Summary = things are getting better all the time!
