Now would be the time to upgrade. Maybe a little pressure for their screw up and you could get them to install the fronts also if you sprung for the parts. Just a thought.

The service Tech guy just called couple min's ago, they are finished w/repairs and are going to try and deliver my bike back out to my house this afternoon, they are trying to get someone to follow him out there so he will have a ride back to the shop. Welp, if it's there when I get home, I'll let you know tomorrow how the new rotor looks and I am going to see if my front breaks have the shims on front. If they are there it will be interesting to see if they put some on the rear.

You'd prolly know if they didn't put the shims in the front... Brakes tend to squeal (or chatter) like radman doing his best Deliverance impresssion with his boyfriend, BillyBob JimmyJoe...

Got home from work yesterday, ck'd my shop bldg and low and behold my bike was parked in there. The dealership never called me and informed me that they either were delivering it back or had delivered it back, anyway, it's good to have him back home where he belongs. Ck'd the breaks out and got new rotor and pads and thanx TWN for the heads up on the shims I would never known to ck--they are there as well. First test ride into work this morning and everything appears :good: my bikes a filthy damn mess though. Doesn't really matter, I'm taking most of the fairing off tomorrow anyway as I plan to install my new Nautilus horn and FJRandy's harness along w/my new GSG Moto sliders. Pic's will be taken and posted. I'll clean him up nice and purdy again. Anybody know if there is a listing of the 5 star rated service dealerships and where they are located? or is that something you have to inquire w/each? I don't suspect I will be returning to this dealership and it's a shame bacause they are so close and convenient to my home. It's great to be back in the saddle--yep I got that sh*t eat'n grin again! :D :D

Well, they did fix their mistake, and as a result you are on the "be extra careful" list. I wouldn't write them off quite yet.

I would recommend trying some of the maintenance stuff yourself, that is really the great thing about this forum.

Many of these guys/girls are here just for this reason and many mechanics here to help.

Most of this stuff is just time consuming and once done the second time is almost easy.

As far as 5 star, The dealer that I do not go to is considered a 5 star and I hear stuff about them all the time. I personally don't think that rating means crap...

Good luck and nice to hear it worked out for ya.

Welp, guess we finally get to bring this thread to a close. Thanx everyone for opinions and help    Yep, Sparky, I plan to take the time to do more of this maintenance myself in the future. After I get all the new farkle's on, there wont be much else to do w/respect to service except change plugs at 10k (which I plan to do) and some new tires.

if you want a road trip to south dakota, in sioux falls, midamerica motoplex employs a chief mechanic who is a die hard fjr rider. they get all my business and do a great job. unlimited service for 4 years for $600. like i needed another incentive to ride...
