I was finally inspired by Old Michael's ride report to post up on my version of the recent SW-FOG.

On Saturday at SW-FOG, rather than follow the crowd to a two-hour lunch, I diverted the other way to check out Monument Valley on the border of Utah and Arizona, to the east of Page.

I have long wanted to see the majestic wide open spaces of Monument Valley and it was the highlight of my trip to finally go there.

---------

I can't even begin to create the type of Ride Report that my bud Old Michael produces. So here's some links to the Route map and my Photoshop slideshow.

Enjoy.

Gorgeous pictures Jack. Thanks for sharing! Makes me want to work even more overtime to see that Monument Valley. Never realized it was that majestic. Showed the slide show to the wife and she enjoyed it too.

Hijack --

How did you get the pics to do a slideshow on photobucket?

Is that the Arai dual-sport helmet? Can you make some comments on fit, comfort, wind noise/buffeting? Pricey helmet so I'm curious....

Way to go brother Wendell. Gorgeous shots.

Remember we talked about taking that ride out there a few weeks back? I just wish I could have

gotten away earlier, and joined you.

And wouldn't it be a cool to hang around until sunset and watch

everything turn gold and red?

One issue with your pics though-

You call this a food photo?

What the hell did you have for lunch?

Paper?

Dude, you've gotta do better than that. :D

I organized my upload to Photoshop, creating an album. Then selected the 'share' option and pasted the link to my post.

I've had the Arai XD since I first picked up my new '06 FJR. I like the larger face-port and the visor certainly helps when riding up-sun. It does react more to crosswinds and turbulence behind trucks and such, but behind my V-Stream windscreen, it works well for me. It won't fit into my sidebag like my other Arai Signet GT will, but that's generally not an issue.

Shoot, that costs money. I'm a cheap fat bastage. I ride a KLR650 if that tells you anything. But I like the slideshow format folks have been using here for a while. Old Mike is ok, but soooo old school. :p

Good to know at highway speeds it is useable. I figured there were compromises, but one helmet for all riding has a certain appeal. I tried on the AFX version but the shell is too small front to back. The Shoei Hornet fit well but pricey too. Joe Rocket (made by HJC) just came out with one too. Does sizing on the Arai run big, small, certain shaped head (quiet peanut gallery :glare: )? Any riding off road with it, and if so how did it work there?

Again. Gorgeous shots. Sorry to see trash in the forground on one. But I really enjoyed them. Hope you post more travel pics in the future.

We went that way on our Western Tour last June. What was the condition of the road to the Visitor's Center? A friend of mine had tried it a couple of years ago on a K75S and turned back after a half mile because of the ruts and potholes so we didn't even try to attempt it.

Nice pics, need to work on your "food ****" shots though
