well, not much boom, actually. But the bike finally wound up on it's side...

parked on center stand, road slope to right side. Pushed her off, thought I had the weight, and did, except for the strategically placed wet leaves...over she went. Slow, couldn't hold. Landed with the right pipe on the curb. And that's the only damage...ding in the tail pipe, small scrape on rt bag.

drat. bike wasn't even running.

but I guess it was about time...ah well. If that's the worst that ever happens, I'll be happy.

That'll learn me to go to German Fest and park in weird places... :dribble:

Sorry to hear that news, Roy. I laid my '03 on it's side once. I know it sucks, but be thankful the bike....or YOU....wasn't hurt any worse.

I know all about having the bike tip over after pulling it off the center stand. In 2005 I was camping in California. The bike had been on it's center stand all night at the campground. Went to push it off in the morning and the opposite side that I was on sank into the ground, so over it went. The worst part was that the parking area was higher than the ground around. So there was my FJR with its wheels in the air looking like a bloated dead deer. Luck was with me as the neighbor was able to help me get it back up right quickly. Scratches to the side bag and the mirror.

That is your lesson for not inviting Russian to a German fest :)

Glad to hear that the bike did not get hurt much.

p.s. oh and you too :)

What German Fest????? Where??? Was there any rice, barley and hops involved?

no rice, but lots of barley and hops. Sausages and oompah music as well. No Bier for me, before you even ask (that's not why baby fell over). But plenty of grilled encased meats...heavy on the sauerkraut and onions. 'GIVE ME YOUR WURST' (here we go...--yes, that's what the GF said.--..)

Oh--in Lincoln Square in Chicago. Been around for ever. small, low-key, but a hoot nontheless.

Speaking of which. What do people do to keep bike from resting on the side when taking off the center stand. yes, I have googly goo the topic and could not find anything but how to put one on. I am specially interested in the vertically challenged people I am one of them. :)

What I do it always keep the bike in 1st and deploy side stand. While rolling it off the center stand I make sure that I lean the bike to the left so if anything it will rest on the side stand. My greatest fear is it leaning right how it happened to Roy. At 5-7 and 170 wet I stand no chance on holding it if it goes right.

I don't put the bike in 1st when coming off center-stand, but I keep the sidestand down as "insurance".

Reason I keep it in 1st is to prevent it from rolling off the side stand :)

Well, you can get yourself one of the drop club icons now. Copy mine.... B)
OK, I'm an *****. how do I do that?
You add the following link to your signature: https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa286/L...t/dropfinal.gif

ummm...that didn't work. Is it me?

edit: never mind...got it!

Thank you! I feel like I finally belong now...
Huh. I've been out of touch for too long; hadn't seen the "Drop Club" icon. My wife tipped pulled up on a canted roadside, then tipped over into me when I pulled up alongside her, tipping me over into the street  Is that a drop or a crash?

--if the bike was moving, it's a crash. If not, it's a drop. Or at least that's how I define them...
