Like FJR-RemingtonRider's wife in this post, my wife Louise too decided she needed a horsepower upgrade. Why that thread resonated with me was the fact that like the Remington's wife, my wife also wanted RED - the Burgman was red, and her helmet is red.

Unlike Mrs. Remington, Louise did have a particular bike in mind. Eventually she made a deal on a new-from-the-crate 2009 Suzuki V-Strom DL1000. Sadly there were no red ones - just black. But she got a wicked price and rode it home last Saturday. And after an afternoon of work last weekend, here's the almost finished bike.

We had the dealer install a DL650 seat (narrower than the DL1000 seat) GIVI E52, AltRider crash bars/frame sliders, skid plate and lowering links. Once we got the V-Strom home I installed the Micatech panniers and SW-Motech GS Tankbank. To come is all the electrical stuff - Starcom, Centech, radio, Zumo 550 ... As with my FJR, which is already heavily farkled, the V-Strom will get lots of goodies added to it over the next couple of months.

Over time, most pictures of my FJR are going to have this V-Strom parked beside it.

I know that there are many guys that are just happy that their wive's tolerate their riding. I do count myself as extremely blessed to have a wife that shares my passion for riding and rides as much as I do.

Now if only it would stop ^*&^%^&%(* snowing and we could get out there and ride!!

Well, if the snows starts to get to you guys, there is an FJR and an FZ6 you guys could borrow for some scoot time here on the rock. Westjet to Comox is your friend

Congrats on the new Strom....pic links are broken tho. Wish I could see it!

Well the pics were there in the preview! I have witnesses!

Here's another try at the pics ...

The ^&%^&$^^*)*()_ snow has ALREADY got to us. If it snows one more freaking time here, we might take you up on that Barb!

I can't see them in Chrome or IE. Not that makes any diff. I am a dork LOL

Well, when it's warm and sunny here Ian, the island is awesome. Not a million places to go, but enough that you and Louise would shake off some winter snow-blues

When I go the long way to the link for the pic, it says I am "unauthorized"

I traded my Vstrom 1000 and a little cash for my current 07 FJR. I really like the VStrom but the FJR was calling out to me.

Congrats, Pics don't work for me either.

Hopefully this time everyone can see the pics of my wife's new V-Strom!!

Apparently MobileMe does some funky things with URLs and access - I can see all the pics here on my laptop. But on any other computer - no images from the MobileMe Gallery are visible. So, here's attempt number three.

NOW we see the pictures!

:clapping: :yahoo: :clapping: :yahoo: :clapping: :yahoo: :clapping: :yahoo:

When the roads do finally open this Spring....what fun!!!

Congrats on the bikes and the companion rider!

Loved it when you wrote that she was trying to buy a bike to match the helmet!

Bob

Looking good Ian. With all the adds so far, it looks like the VStrom is ready for a road trip! Especially like the AltRider stuff and MicaTech bags...nice. :clapping:

Congrats, good looking bike your wife got there.

So...when are you going to schedule the repaint to RED??? :p

The mighty V-Strom, the swiss army knife of bikes. Mandatory equipment is a Mad Stad bracket to take care of the buffeting.

It's the hair, man. Woman has to match the hair.

PS - Good on the woman for going with the Man-strom. Who needs a li'l wee when you can get the whole Man (for about the same $$ and weight)?
