Three of us are headed to Murphy NC on April 12 for a week of NC roads, staging in Murphy with overnights planned from there. I've done the Gap and 28, and the Cherohola and have to take my guests for one day of that. After that, I'm looking for new roads and the map shows some promising two lanes on the north east of the national park.

Any suggestions for good roads with good grippy pavement, light traffic and non-hostile LEO's?

And yes, I do want it all!!!

That White Knuckle Express, if it is 421 south out of Bristol, TN going over into NC, we liked that road about as well as the Dragon. Whole lot less LEO's, matter of fact, didn't see one on the road....and some nice twisties. Been 2 years since we were there, but liked that road....

There's a better-than-average chance I'll make it to the cabin that weekend (Hayesville NC). If you want a tour guide just holler. I know most every pothole in that area by heart.

Here is a nice day ride mostly in North Georgia. The only tricky part is the left off Hy 60 onto Dial road. This turn is in the middle of a sharp right hand corner. You will go a few miles and then make a left across the bridge onto Butts Hill Rd. At the stop sign make a right onto Doublehead Gap Rd which will take you to Hy 52.

I have ridden all these roads in the last year and they are all in good shape. Hy 60 west of Suches is fresh asphalt with a good mix of fast sweepers and decreasing radius turns to keep you on your toes (can you say lots of counter steer). The only boring sections are 129 from Murphy to Blairsville and 129 from Nantahala to Murphy. If you ride it during the week you won't see any extra LEOs but you will have to keep an eye out on the main highways for the usual ones heading for the doughnut shop. 8^)

Enjoy the ride and be safe.

I've done the Dahlonega/Suches area several times and enjoyed it a lot. Also been all the way around the park and through Gatlinburg and Franklin and the Wheels of Time Museum and all that. I'll take my buddies on the Gap and the Cherry Cola cause they think they have to do it, but I want to go find some new challenges.

I'm working on that for sometime next year!!!!! Gotta go to Oakland to visit my grand kids, and need to get a couple of riding days in.

Here we go again!!! Mr Jack, you do realize that there are world class twisties over here, don't you?... you can completely chuck the Dragon & still have a shitload of world class twisties.

I get so tired of hearing that same attitude all of the time.
