First thing he did when introduced to his indoor exercise pen (16-ft circumference located twixt kitchen and living room) was to inspect the dog litter pan filled with tasty-looking Purina dog litter, which, after a two-second sniff test, began eating.
Clearly, his name should be 'tard.

For the price of that pup, I'll send you a whole box of Siamese cats.

Had a friend called his pup, Deoge (dog).

Good choice, Westies are a great dog.

My wife named our Westie. Combined our middle names from Lynn and Wayne to the paper name Lanes White Tornado, we call her Tori. You will find out about the Tornado stuff as he grows.

Sparky is good, dot would be perfect if he was a girl.

Okay! We've decided on a name. It's... Slider.

'Tard ran a close second cause he prefers lying in his litter box rather than his cute wittle bed.

Good choice, my mother-in-law had a brindled dog and named it Tigger. Around 10:00 one night she was running around the yard shouting TIGGER, TIGGER when the person of African decent walking down the sidewalk in front of her house suddenly took great exception. Name a dog what you would yell in public ;)

So, how are the cats taking the dog?

Slider and the Cats...

Well, things are going pretty well, actually. Caveman swatted Slider a couple times. Artis has hissed some. Lovepie's been neutral... until yesterday. She is now letting the pup chase her around the house. And, this morning, Caveman seemed more tolerant of Slider's in-your-face attitude. No hissing and no swats.

However, we did have a mini drama this morning. Slider went wee wee, no, he took a leak in his litter box upon getting up. Then he proceded to move into the dump position. Poor little guy grunted and squirmed for what seemed like five minutes. Finally it came out. But, damn, there's this brown lump hanging out his butt. I prepare a warm wet washcloth and massage it out of there. Took about ten minues to get it all cause part was still inside his rectum. I was very gentle and all is now well.

Yesterday Slider came down with the sniffles and a cough. So I'm relieved that we're taking him to Jody Kincaid 11:30 this morning for his health check. Jody saved Caveman's life a few years back. It's about a 30-mile drive from Las Cruces to Anthony, Texas, but Jody's the best in my book.

Another quote for the "Ridicule for forty years with this" file.
Heck, I was a medic in the Army. This stuff doesn't bother me, well, except that while I was massaging his butt, I had visions of damaging one of his internals. So I had to be really gentle with him. In a manly way, of course.

Mind if I drift off topic for a minute? Several people (ok, one guy) have asked me about my avatar. Most of it is me, as you can see here...

I placed my face on a copy machine, with sunglasses. I then scanned the image into Painter 4.0 for the Mac and tweaked it some (mainly eyes, nose and teeth) and added a greenish tint. When I showed it to my father he said I needed to see a shrink. Hahahaha - dad was a funny guy that way. Oh, damn! Something just bit me! Some kind of bug.
