Deeogee. But really, I like Rommel. He looks like my Shepherd who was 15 yoa. Enjoy him.

Thanks for all the great ideas!

Though being a student of WW2, I find it one of the most intriguing eras of history, I have decided to go with Rommel as his name.

I have never been very good at naming pets. My last two cats have been named "Cat", original I know. For a moment I thought

his name would be Bud, or Buddy...because that is what I found myself calling him. But after a while I started using Rommel, and

so did the guy that works for me.

So the big guy has a name, though he is spoiled rotten. I have been taking him to work with me. As a contractor, it is not a big

deal to have him ride to the jobsites with me. Plus it gives Cat a chance to have the house to himself.

Thanks for sharing your suggestions. Lots of good ones.

Chris

Cyclebabble,

Have you really thought through the implications of naming the dog Rommel? The following is a list of things which you might take into consideration.

1) Dog doesn't "play well with others"

2) Dog gets unhealthy craving for Weinerschnitzel "Polish Dogs."

3) Neighborhood ******* get blitzkreiged, if you know what I mean.

4) Your Jewish friends become a little standoffish.

5) On the plus side, dog does amazingly well in obedience class.

I urge you to consider Spot, Rover, or Dog as acceptable names.

Remember that scene in Patton, where his dog is afraid of the smaller dog? That is what Rommel is like. My moms Yorkies had him whining the other day as they

barked at him. :D

So for short it will probably be Rom.

Plus he is showing some signs of separation anxiety. Whenever I leave, even if it is just to go the back room....he starts crying. So much for the big tough German Shepherd.

He is a good pup though. Very obedient, and behaved, and loves people.

GREAT deal - for both of you (and people on the jobsites) ! :p

I know its too late now, but I love the 'Helmut' suggestion. I may hafta go get another dog now just to name him that.

I was thinking 'Sparky' when I started reading this thread.

Good luck with him; he's a good looking pooch.
