I plan to ride to work a funeral in Bakersfield. I guess that counts. The guy was KIA 40 years ago in 'Nam and is just now coming home to rest. Details

Good phucking luck! Momma says "NO! You might have fun!"

Plus, BD's trying to be the first forum member to get 3 years out of a set of OEM tires.

(if he can fend off dry rot)

Dry Rot/Weather Checking (fine lines on Sidewall)

This is usually seen in the spring after bikes have been stored for the winter. Also very hot, sunny climates are hard on tires. Ways to avoid dry rot:

- Keep both tires up off the ground in winter

- Use mild soap & water to clean tires, not tire cleaners or preservatives

- Avoid exposure to fertilizer, ozone, extremes in temperature

- Do not park under electrical wires nor near electric motors e.g. furnaces

- Don't store near gasoline or solvent tanks (hydrocarbon fumes)

- Use bike cover to protect tires from extreme sun conditions

They haven't promo'd this very well this year... or any other year for that matter. Based on current fuel prices, you'd think we'd get some public service announcements thrown our way.

Very successful (as usual I might add), I saw three bikes on the way in (granted kind of early 5am - 6:15am) and thats for 70 miles on the 405 fwy. Piss poor job of promoting ----

I ride to work every day I can but this morning it was like a monsoon out there. Raining hard heavy and often. I was in my cage and could only see about 30ft in some places. Btw, your post was the first time I have heard of ride to work day this year.
