Spent Sunday rewiring all my gizmos and dodads so it all runs off of switched power, including the Escort X50. Ran the headset 3.5mm jack into the Starcom, but I'm getting no sound off the 'Scort. Tried the phone jack, aux jack, audio jack and remote jack and still don't get Jack! :(

I plugged my MP3 buds into the 'Scort's headphone jack and I get mono beepage, so the problem ain't the detector. I tried several patch cords and even swapped out the GPS cord with the wart thingy in line - nada. All other systems are a-okay. The 'Com's instructions don't say more that stick it in the phone or aux jack... I'm at a loss (big surprise, huh?)!

Any thoughts? Jeff? Bueller? :dntknw:

Call Autocom Kieth 918-446-2245. He said something about needing a ground loop isolator for radar detector output. He (or maybe Skyway) could explain it.

Do you think you blew your headset?

Do you have Starcom P# CAB-36 ? I think this is what you need, not a Starcam owner myself, but would be my best guess.

You could also go with Cab-35 and have the option of 2.5mm and 3.5mm?

Call the Starcom tech support! They have been really good to me and either get me the answer, or send me the part really quick.

When we did the group buy thingy on the Passports I told Jack I would be running mine through a Starcom and he recommended buying the ground loop isolator....for a mere $24.00 more....Of course I did but I can't tell you how it works because that would assume that I had a freakin' bike to mount the thing to. Supposedly today.

Jeff form Sportbikeeffects called me last night to discuss - now THAT'S customer service, friends!

I tried the 35/36 cord from the gps (the only difference between the two is the 2.5 to 3.5 converter jack) and still nada. Jeff was going to ring up Starcom today and advise. 'Cept, I can't find my friggin' cell phone to see if Jeff left a message! ARRRRRRRRRRGH! I hate technology!!!!

Thanks guys! :good:

I just bought a Starcom and having some trouble integrating with my V1. I could get detector noise for a while from an unisolated cable (with an annoying click noise), but not from various isolated cables. Then that seems to even have petered out and now won't even work with my ER-6 plugs, so my audio part is back with Valentine now being diagnosed.

I could get off the 2.5mm connector sorta too, but somethings up. Still not sure if it's V1 or Starcom, but still a bit suspecting about isolated cables may have issues with the detector. Figure I've got another couple months to sort out before serious rally season.

You're not the only one confused. Don't know what to tell 'ya, but there are others of us out there.

Iggy, Jeff allowed that he's heard of uninsulated cables damaging your V1 model. It didn't do anything to mine as my ear buds still work with the X50.

Friggin' 'lectronics! Grog need Dixie Cup and long string! Ugh!

Starcom says do NOT try and use the radar detector powered by the bike's electrical system with an un-isolated cable, as it can damage the equipment. They are not worried about the Starcom, just the radar detectoror, in this possible case, the Valentine audio adapter.

Never knew that. Hopefully Valentine isn't reading this forum and that they'll send me a new audio unit in spite of my ignorance, and hopefully I haven't fried anything other than it.

TWN, you no dobut will remember that guy standing outside the hotel near Yosemite with a small screwdriver in his hand, and parts laid out on the seats, disassembling/assembing his intercom unit. Welcom to Starcom Command.

<Mini hi-jack, but well worth it!>

Hi Joseph, where you been hanging all winter?

Well, we're thinking at this point that we'll try a 36 cord v. the 35 cord with the 3.5mm adapter off my GPS. Will advise results.

Thanks, all!

Minijack con't - thanks for the welcome back Skyway & Tim. I have been around some and away some (Colorado, China, Hong Kong, Utah). Mostly, though, I was just takin' a break. Rode today, though. Blew out most of the cob webs. Mulholland, Stunt Rd., Las Flores, PCH, Latigo, Kanan. I must of had fun 'cause I scraped the pegs several times. Either that or I was just rusty.
