I'm going to upgrade my 05 to a 14 (can't resist that red bike). I want to move my Traxxion Dynamics setup to the new bike.

In Atlanta area but willing to have it shipped to me.

Your first gen version Traxxion Dynamics fork guts will not work in a 2014 (ES or A). The shocks should be transferable.

I'm just south of ATL and have a OEM 05 stock shock setup available and I think I have the front fork springs as well.

Actually they will work on the A model, Traxxion changes the left's side damper rod and modifies the fork cap to provide a rather cumbersome way to change the rebound damping. The compression damping continues to be right side only. Traxxion quoted me $225 to make (and install) the conversion. I think that improving the current design (one side damping only) would be a better and more cost effective (for the customer) alternative.

Right, they can modify a 3rd gen A's forks that way, but I'm pretty sure that this wouldn't be using the exact same valves as would be used on a 1st gen.

For one thing, the compression valve flow rates will have to be half of what they are in a two sided system to get an equivalnet amount of damping.

What is involved in making the left side fork actually do any damping is to be seen.

Fred, could you clarify what you are talking about in the second sentence because it doesn't make sense to me.

Traxxion's fork upgrade to the '13 is to replace the one sided damping system with their standard AK-20 two sided damping system (which involves replacing both OEM cartridges), it just comes up a little short in the ability to make adjustments to the left leg, the low speed compression damping adjustment will still be right side only. I have never heard that there is any difference in the AK-20 valving between the GEN1 and GEN2 although there could be differences depending on the spring rate selected. I also am not aware that GP Suspension had different valving for their GEN1 and GEN2 fork kits. When I was there watching my forks being rebuilt they had a single drawer of damping pistons, but they also may have made valving adjustments for a very heavy rider that needed much heavier springs.

What I mean(t) is that the OP will not be able to use those valves in his new (otherwise stock) 2014 fork legs.

He would need to do as you suggest and replace both of the 2014 cartridges with prior gen ones and thereby convert the forks to a 2 sided system.

I guess he could technically use the valves on the new bike if he also had some extra/new cartridges to screw them into. I've got to assume that he is going to need to leave the cartridges in the old 1st gen to be able to sell it, right?

I think we came to much different conclusions regarding his request. I assumed that he had AK-20s in his current FJR and wanted to transfer those to the '14, therefore he was looking for the entire OEM cartridges. If not, I wasn't aware that Traxxion would sell their damping pistons separately for installation in the OEM cartridge.

OK, I was not familiar with the Traxxion fork upgrade.

I was thinking it was like the others and you just replaced the valves, did not realize they sold you the full cartridge.

I went to their web site and am up to speed now.

Nevermind...
