Just put a set of Pilot Roads on...have about 250 miles now, and I must say me likes them... :D This weekend will be the test with trekking to CFO and seeing how they perform in the twisties. Stay tuned....

I've got the Conti Force Max set on mine and really like them so far. They are wearing really well and are very neutral at all speeds. Since the addition of the Wilburs, feedback from the rear has skyrocketed and you can really tell what the tire/road interaction is doing. Anytime the rear tire even hints at developing a flat spot I hit the back roads and it magically disapears. I've yet to drag anything, but then again I've yet to drag anything, ever. So far I can say I like them better than the metz 4s that came on the bike, and the price was great. I'll probably try the Avons next to find out what all the hubub is about.

MIFJR,

Don't EVER post another pic of your poor motorcylce again in such filthy condition. :D

You are lucky the Admin let it go this time :)

Is water rationed in Michigan? Do you not bathe yourself? :dribble:

That tire doesn't look too bad in the pic. Truth be told it is the only thing I can look at without getting the dry heaves. You might want to try cornering a bit harder to the left to even things out some. The chicken strip is a lot wider on the left than on the right. What's up with that?

Excuse me, but I must go and tell my FJR how much I love her and will never take pictures of her in such condition....

PS. I hope you know I'm just yankin' your chain.

Wait, no I'm not. I mean everything I said.

No worries,

You can wash yours, I'll go ride mine. :p As far as the chicken strips comment, it was your darned Canadian roads that made it that way. Maybe next time I'll have to ride around Lake Superior in counter-clockwise rotation.

I came from a cruiser with ME880s on it so shredding a decent tire in 5000 miles is unheard of! I've got about 8000 on my rear tire on the back of the Sabre and it's still shaped beautifully and ready to ride another 5000+.

I guess I'm used to changing tires once every season, not thrice. :)

@ Pappy, be careful. 'Stones are known to wear the last 15-20% quickly. It has been posted in the past that riders who opined they had another 2K miles so would use them on a trip had to replace them mid-trip because they wore so quickly.

:D   :D   :D   Looks like cupping right?    :D   :D   :D
I think its a throttle problem, too responsive. I had the same problem so I filled the tank with diesel... I have had no problem with any tire wear since! :p
Yer not funny. If you had really done that and then spent 10 days figuring out why your Intruder either ran poorly or not at all, you wouldn't think it was funny. Don't ask how I found out. :haha:

Your lucky,

I read a story from a bike mechanic in a bike mag long ago about a guy called his dealer... "This POS Goldwing you rented me started running like CRAP then cought FIRE!!!"

You allready know what the mechanic found in the fuel tank! :p :p :p

What? No discussion on the Conti's or the Metz's? I thought no FJR Forum was complete without the Conti sidewall discussion and the Metz fall-apart issues!!

:p

Not even close. A clean bike is a gay bike. This is why pretty-boy Hardleys are referred to as "driveway-jewelry". Bikes that are ridden by testosterone-dripping hard-core riders most definitely look like serious road machines. For example:

"Chicken-stripe" comments always make me laugh.

Running a tire to the very outside edge on a streetbike is the sign of an immature and/or undisciplined rider. This is a foolhardy practice for street-riding. It's only a matter of time before you round that hairpin corner at the edge of your tires only to find a stalled car, animal, etc blocking the road. With no reserve left to tighten your line, you'll get to experience the joys of a lowside - if you're lucky. If you're not lucky - you'll experience worse.

Heartily concur.

Aren't you cute.... running a 190 rear tire to the edge of it's siping more than does the job on the streets, thanks.
