I came home last night, pull out the laptop, and find that it has been damaged in the course of the day. Either my wife dropped furniture on it while she was cleaning the carpet, or one of my kids found it with a foot or something.

Anyway, half of the screen works, the other half is like a windshield that met a hammer. Think spiderweb.

Its a Dell Insperon, cost about $600 a year or two ago so its not a high end jobber.

Does anyone know if the screen can be replaced in a cost effective manor? Anyone got one with a dead cpu they want to get rid of?

If It can't be replaced easily, does anyone know how to remove the top half? I'll just give it to one of my kids and plug it into a monitor for them.

PM me the service tag number from the bottom of the unit and I will see what I can do?

They are easy enough to replace, but last time I priced a dell LCD it was ~$300. It varies with different models.
