I purchased a Shad top box for my 05 FJR and also purchased the brake light assembly. I have everything wired except for actually connecting the top box wires to the brake light system I do not have a service manual and was hoping that someone can explain to me how to actually connect the top box brake light wires to the FJR's brake lights. Is it a simple connect or is there any splicing involved? A diagram would be most helpful.

Thanks

The ground can be grounded to the frame, the red wire (from the topcase) needs to be tapped into the brake light wire. I think that wire is yellow-you have a gen I, I have a gen II but they appear to be the same color, a meter will tell the tale. On mine, I tapped into this wire on the harness that runs up the left side of the tailsection.

Thank you very much.

No problem, I was hoping someone with a Gen I would add insight to the color of the wire. I got yellow from looking at the cc isntall at fjr tech.

I apologize for bringing this thread back from the dead, but I can confirm that it is the yellow wire on the 2013.

I grounded the light to the frame, and all is well.
