Michael,
I put in for a position in Redding, CA. A little south of you but close enough that we can ride often. I will find us some nice twisty's through the redwods...
I ride through redding once or twice a year. If memory serves not too far from Yosemite, rte. 36, rte ?199 or 299 and others.... Hot in summer and a CHP barracks just north that grabs people -- don't ask how I know... but the coast isn't too far either come to think of it. The only bad part is Old Michael is in that neck of the woods somewhere. ;)
Shiney, this geography thing is a struggle for you, huh? Friggin' Redding is closer to you than to me in Sacramento!

And Yosemite is a couple of hours SOUTH of me.

No wonder the CHP is always jumping on your ***. You probably look lost and you talk funny.

I still can't believe you found a half-dozen dams. :D

(When are we going to take a ride together, amigo?)

Gregory, Redding is near lots of good motorcycling roads, but it's a furnace in the summer. Not as bad

as Phoenix, but close at times. You'll love it. Next to Owosso, Northern CA is the happiest place on earth.

Even WITH Dr. Rich as a resident.

Oh yeah, maybe I was thinking of Sacramento. Redding was HOT -- probably fried what few brain cells I had. But what the heck is a couple hours on an FJR? When I ride I-5 I just plow on through until I take a left or right... it's all the same on a slab. As for the guys in shades with flashing blue lights, I hear they know you by your nickname, old but fast. And Gregory rode with me, he can tell you I ride like a grandma on Sunday.

Next time I mention anything about Geography I better check a map. Never know when a strange city or mud trail will bite your ***. ;)

First thing I'm gonna do after I get the FJR finally fixed up is ride down and harass your old wrinkly hide. Still haven't ridden 36 for instance. And I hear you know where there is pie. Er, the eating kind, er... never mind.

Gregory, see the kinds of folks are up near where you'll be? (Thinking positively for 'ya).

I got all the hot I want down here in Tucson, so no worries there.

Looking forward to some new roads and the coast being just a bit away

If you want it and believe you can do it, ...you can! Several years back in an interview [for an outside sales position] I was aksed if I thought I could handle making "cold calls", I was a little surprised by my own reply, I said "...so what is it you think I'm doing right now", he must have thought it was an appropriate response, he hired me.

Moving at the speed of government, I am happy to report that I GOT THE FUKING JOB!

I see that my original post was on 10/07/09 and here it is 12/10/09, and they called me today to inform me that I GOT THE JOB!

So, I want to thank everybody who sent their mojo my way. Much appreciated and it came in handy. I am soon to be a resident of Redding, CA after a lifelong stint in Tucson, AZ. PNW, here I come!

There is some ish to work out, but I hope to be north by the new year.

Thanks to all my SW Fog brothern, I will try for Taos (Niehart, need a riding buddy for the 106 bar?)

Merry Christmas to all!

Gregory.

ps, anybody wanna buy a house in Tucson?........................................

Congrats Gregory. I'm sure you'll like the reported temps more in Redding than in Tucson. I heard a number of years ago the Chamber of Commerce in Redding was concerned about the high temps being reported so they had the official thermometer moved from the airport to downtown by the river. So it's a much cooler place now

Welcome to Northern California, gregory.

Every day, after work, you can ride Hwy. 299 to the coast and back.

Takes about an hour. ;) :D

Thanks guys!

OM, can't wait to ride the roads in your ride reports!

Don, I'll be back! Bad penys always turn up!

Michael, while I know it's not the PNW proper, let me dream!

Congratulations Gregory.... Lived in Redding for several years off Oasis Road out next to Tierra Oaks Golf Course. The summers can be brutal with temps of 100-115 for several weeks. You are close to Lake Shasta so you can cool off. Riding is great. You can go out to the coast, ride east and down through the Sierras, swing over to Mt. Lassen or head south to slum with Old Michael. Looking forward to riding with you in the future. Rich
