Needed: (1) Chrome Plastic Bolt Cover

I mounted some bar risers and thought I had the bolt covers on snug. Well, by the time I got to work one had flown off! :angry:

Anybody have an extra they'd like to sell? B)

What, don't wanna fork over the buck-fiddy per? I've already gone through a set of six extras that I had on hand, otherwise I'd send you some. In the future, take a small piece of duct tape and place on the round tab to snug-up the fit. A lot of these are loose. (Imperial v. metric sizing?) These are used in carpentry quite a bit, but I've yet to locate the source for chromed ones. White, brown, brass, black - no problem. Chrome? Fugedaboudit.

Try your local Yamaha shop. They might have an extra in their spare parts bin. I did some research a while back since I lost one also. It's a generic plug/cap that's used on most Yamaha bikes; especially cruisers. You might even get one free if you ask nice.

I squeezed some pliable adhesive caulk into the holes before recapping mine.

Hey Ock, I appreciate the offer! I didn't realize though that these were available at the dealer for cheap...I figured special order and whatnot.

I ordered a pack last month from the stealer. Checked with them last week and they told me they are on backorder until September 2nd. WTF! Been a run on these things lately or what?! Seems everytime I order something lately, it's on backorder. Think I'll try fjrgoodies.

For future reference (or anyone who hasn't gotten replacements yet), I got one from Gary McCoy at University Motors. I don't remember what the cost was, but it cheap enough for me not to worry about it (probably $2 or some such). Shipping is nothing, as he'll just toss one or two in an envelope and send it off to you.

To keep the shiny little bastards in place... I used a can of 3M spray adhesive I had laying around. Damned useful stuff! I use it for all sorts of things, but it worked great on the bolt cap. Just a quick squirt and slap it on there. Probably not worth going out to buy a can, but if you've got it laying around or have another use for it, it's all good!
