For those of you who would like to ride-in-to NERDS Thursday (Aug 18th) or even meetup at our lunch loca? here's an outline.....

Join in where and when you can!...........

Weds (8/17) early evening (6:30-7pm) Crow's nest restaurant for dinner. We can meet there, or at my house which is about 300 yards away....

Weds (8/17) PM; Bonfire at my house after "the Nest's" dinner. I have some sleeping options available, and I will pull my camper out as I did for the last NERDS pre-roundup party at my place. First reserved gets them, I also have 3.5 mowed acres also, so camping is no issue and no reserve need B.

Thurs (8/18/) 9AM KSU

Our route will be similar to the last pre-NERDS dealio, I might add-in a few different wrinkles

Thurs (8/18) Lunch stop and possible mid-meetup location for some?. Time? TBD, but prob 12:30ish

Redneck Bistro is very good, the prices are very reasonable especially considering this is Lake Placid.

GPS address it:2302 Saranac Ave Lake Placid, NY

After lunch, we simply cannot pass up the infamous Tracey Rd., bellies full or not!

We should arrive at the Commodores late afternoon, plenty of time to get beer and start our tire kicking- parking lot social hour.

So a low key, phun ride-in, a few exciting stretches of course very scenic as the 'dacks truly provide. Post up if you want to meetup or get in on the pre-party activities. Cheers :)

I booked a room and will meet you for lunch on the way there.I had so much fun at CFR, this might be habit forming

So Brotha Dave, we are meeting you at the Redneck Bistro then for lunch?

I will have to get you a definite time range then...

@Jeff

Make it happen!

How is it done Dave? bottom right corner of the post you want to quote.

Are you going to make it for the weekend or just lunch?

Hey, look at that... My phone can do what my PC couldn't...Yes, I'll be enjoying the whole weekend with tout le gang.

Looking forward to it,

Now, you boys don't be attracting too much attention from the boys in blue at that there Tracy Road. Some other NERDS may want to ride that at some time over the weekend.
Wait... there's cops on the Tracy? well let's hope not, at least when any of our group(s) pay a respectful visit. At the last NERDS, yamafitter and myself went back for many more respectable Tracy visits... back and forth sounds boring... but as you know [here/there?].... it's not!

Thanks for putting this together Fred, low-key basics is just dandy with us!

So far, so good! We should have a grand old time.
Jeff; let me know if, when and where... it would be cool to have you in our ride-in group. Looks to be the right amount as well, if we got too many, I was going to do a split, but, not thinking we will have to!

Dave; I'm currently making our .gpx ride-in route. I'm changing it from years past but I'm still planning on meeting you in Lk Placid for lunch around 12:30

KJ,. When we get closer to the trip time, I'll give you my trip plans. As of right now, I plan to meet up with you and the group on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning for the ride up.

I so want to and had so much fun a few years ago at NERDS. Not in the cards this year. In Feb 2019 I retire, so you NERDS had better watch out then...

Don't worry about cops on Tracy Road. The speed limit is 50 mph and the amount of vehicles that are capable of exceeding that are limited (yes, FJR's can exceed that). It would be a waste of resources for the town to set up on the road. Also, the town is the one who is selling the Tracy Road T-shirts, so the last thing they would want to do is get a reputation for giving out tickets. That being said, do be careful of people fishing on the side of the road. They do sometimes pull out or turn around without looking for bikes.

Is it really marked 50? I never noticed before and have ridden it many times. I guess I was too busy having a ball to read the signs. ;)

That's really quite awesome. It is a limited access road in the middle of the country, so 50 makes sense in the short straights. Maintaining that 50 mph speed limit through the corners makes for a fun, fun ride.

Boy, I'd love to join you. But would you please identify where this great Tracy Road is on your Spotwalla map? I haven't given up on the idea of making one more cross country trip, especially with the new bike. Your route takes you right through some of the areas I rode in '14, like the Finger Lakes, Oneida Lake, and parts of the Daks. Hell, I'm tempted to just say . . .

IN!

Tracy Road is also known as County Route 6 in eastern NY, just to the west of the lower end of Lake Champlain. It links up nicely with Ensign Pond Rd., which also runs east west just south of Tracy.

Google Map

There are a number of the "pond" and "river" roads in that area wedged between the Northway (I-87 which goes from Albany to Montreal) and the Vermont border that make for an awesome day of riding a 2 wheeler. It's what makes Lake George a great MC destination (when the Pirates and Wingabagoes aren't jamming up the roads during Americade)

I went along with a couple of friends to Americade this year and we took a day ride up to Lake Placid. On the way back as we passed under the Northway I saw the sign for Tracy Rd beaming ahead but I knew it held no interest for those two iron machines in front of me.

Riding past it was almost in slow motion.
