Hey NERDS!! This weekend is shaping up to be some actual, honest to Dog, summer-like conditions. And things have been way too quiet around here in the northern New England nerdy bunch. Time to start your engines and shake off those post-winter doldrums. Let's get together for a ride and a meet to greet (and eat).

I'm pretty open either day this weekend, though Saturday we do have a bright and early airport drop-off to make (kids are flying out of Manch-Vegas) but we are otherwise open the rest of the day Saturday for a lunch-time destination, or on Sunday we could do a bright and early to hit one of the great Maple Barns for breakfast, and then post chow-down ride to points unknown.

Of course: there would be no unpaved roads.

So, jump in here and spout off your availability and also someplace you have a hankering for and I'll put something together for a ride route before or after (and then try my best to convince someone else to lead us!

Not trying to steer things too much, but I'd think that, with predicted temps climbing up into the low 80's this weekend, plus the increased likelihood of thunderstorms later in the days, an early northern destination would be a good idea for us un-acclimated polar bears.

Possible Sunday breakfast destinations might include: Polly's PP(Sugar Hill), Benton's Sugar (Thornton) or Eaton's Sugar (S Royalton, VT), or of course the old standby, Parker's Sugar in Mason.

Saturday chow down targets could be: Foothills of Warner (Warner, duh!), Littleton Diner (you know where), Hungry Bear Pub (Bradford, VT), or maybe Top of the Hill Grille (for BBQ) in Brattleboro, VT.

Totally open for suggestions of other worthy destinations, or for other enthusiastic ride leaders.

So, come-on now... Let's get this party started!!

I believe the Asphalt Junkies are going to be beginning an Adventure this weekend.

Hmmm . . . . Leaving in about 12 hours for Lake George and the plan was to take most of the day Saturday getting home. Matter of fact, loading some NERDS and Daks routes in the GPS as I type. This has possibilities.

Gonna try to watch this thread during the week.

Fred, We have been working round the clock (not really ,but it seems that way ) to finish some projects around the homestead. Very much looking forward to getting out to ride with some NERDS just not sure if THIS weekend will be it. Please keep us posted... P.S. Wishing Paul and Gina a most awesome and epic ride adventure with great weather and smooth curvy roads Have a blast guy's!!!

Landscaping project be damned - I'm in. And the timing's good, she's going in for her checkup (& PR4's) on Friday.

Either day works for me.

With this being only my 3rd season in NH, I'll follow the leaders on route suggestions. I was on Rt5 VT yesterday from Wht River Jct to Woodsville, NH & the majority of the road was in good shape. The west portion of The Kanc fared the winter well, too. Provided you could get past the usual heards of pirates.........

Thanks for putting something together,

Ed

Hey Fred,

Iris and I were planning to head out to Portsmouth, NH this weekend, I'm hoping our paths can cross. We'll keep an eye on this thread, especially if you get a route posted.

Jim

Wow, that does sound like fun. Normally I'd be all over it. This weekend we're hosting an 80th birthday party for my dad. He is the guy responsible for my two wheeled addiction. In 1969 he had a CL350 we used to ride to Weirs Beach to check out bike weekend. That's the first bike I rode on the street (I was 12) then he bought a CB750 a year later. One ride on that and I was hopelessly hooked!

So we have a gang coming by to honor this great guy and celebrate the beginning of his 9th decade. I'm building a big fire pit for the clam bake. Lobsters, steamers, the whole works. Sorry, invitation only you voracious eaters.

Hope you guys have fun and please post up some good photos and stories.

Oh good. We'll wait for you at the corner, DonS.

Alright then... the first one that doesn't have other plans or minds getting his bike dirty. ;)

Congrats to Papa H! 80 years old? Wowsers. That is really something.

I'm sure that you and Sarah will throw a magnificent hoopty for him, maybe crack a couple of Green Heads?

Sounds like he deserves it.

I gotta get East and do this sometime, but I have committed to Mike's (wnyfjr) Tech Day in Western NY this weekend.

...and waiting on a lobstah run too! :)

Yeah, Fred, you always do promise....
Iris, plan on at least one stretch on a dirt road, otherwise it's not an official Fred W. ride. Even when he makes every effort to avoid them them, they always seem to show up somewhere on the route.

Have a great ride everyone!

In Fred's defense; It's pretty hard to tell if the road is paved or not when making routes in BC (or Tyre etc). Sometimes you just happen to connect with a dirt road here or there (or a washed out road)

OK, so tempus fugit, and all that... Gotta put a stake in the ground.

Here's what I've come up with for a "plan":

Ride to Meet and Eat (breakfast) at the Foothills of Warner Restaurant in Warner, NH (doh!) on Sunday June 8th at 9:00 AM.

Yes, I know you'll have to leave home wicked early to get there, but it's June for crying out loud. These are our longest days of the year. And Sunday is supposed to start at 58Fand later get up into the mid 80's by late afternoon, with zero chance of wet stuff I might add.

After gorging on the renown cinnamon buns and maple syrup slathered pancakes, we'll have a couple of options. I'll be whipping up a local ride-about route, probably heading somewhat northerly and westward, before looping back around toward the Central NH start in the afternoon.

But we could also take the short, but very fun, skoot up to Rollins State Park and make the 1/2 mile (easy) hike up to the top of Mt Monadnock. Won't be as magnificently picturesque as when we do it in the late fall foliage, but I'm sure it will still be worth the effort.

All depends on what folks are feeling that morning. If the flapjacks are weighing us down, we can just set off on the FJRs and explore some of the bumpy back roads of New Hampster on my planned route (no unpaved roads of course).

So... Who is in?

I've got Ed (SnoCat)

Carl and Grace (Pepperell)

Jim 'n Iris (ZOOOM and Iris)

and...
