And instant-on to boot!

Last night, hopped onto the local freeway to run an errand. My Escort started chirping immediately, so I eased down and started investigating. Soon, I noticed a CHP motorcycle cruising the #1 lane, and he was gaining on me. About the time he was to pass me, I noticed him pulling over to the left before dirting off through the median area to pursue a violator in the opposite direction.

That oughtta be about as safe for the officer as it is for me when I'm goofing with my GPS or iPod while underway....

Not to mention crossing the median on two wheels! Grass median, or what?

We saw the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Boise PD bike going the opposite direction on I-84 had my V-1 going off.

Got several of them here, all riding white ST1300s. Ka-band instant-on.

Clearly, municipal revenue has overcome common sense.

Dirt and dead grass. They call it the Golden State, but it's more like brown, and red, as in on fire, again. Then it will be the Blackened State, again....

Moving works better for me than having them hide behind bushes. At least their headlights are on.

Happened a bit back home in Perth. I was surprised the first time, but not after that. Interesting that it's a Ka band though - ours were the high powered K bands for all vehicle based ones.

In OK the Hwy Patrol are riding Harleys except for one Trooper in the Tulsa area. He is riding a sports bike (do not know the make) and the radar detector is mounted in the fairing. You would not know who he was until he pulled you over. I met him last month at a motorcyle safety course conducted by our local PD in Edmond. The Trooper was helping them with the course. The course is given free by the way.

Happens up here all the time. The CHP rides around in active mode, just like the cars. I've even seen the bikes hiding at truck scales aiming their guns up the highway. I assume that is LIDAR.

Got hit last year by an unmarked Tahoe with blacked out windows, even had a big football helmet stuck to the back. He was a good way ahead of me moving at speed. Got me on my FJ with mobile rear-facing radar. He let me off with a warning.

FJR Boomer - You're probably referring to the Hayabusa that the Okie highway patrol runs. Maryland had (has?) two Beemer sport bikes that are also impossible to pick out before it's too late.

FJR Flyer - He didn't need radar, you followed at at greater than legal speed. While some people call it a form of entrapment, you're still the one who broke the limit and he didn't force you to do it. It's known as "rear pacing" and pretty common around here. Crown Vic passes by, motorist speeds up to follow at a distance behind the police car - thinking the "coast is clear", the officer slows, hits the lights, and writes a citation.

Most likely, they are running MC mounted Kustom Golden Eagles. The control panel looks like a Wii remote and is mounted on the handlebars. Not much worse than using the blinker switch.

They run dual wide-band Ka radar and stopwatch modes.
