Got the new bike today. All I can say so far is AMAZING ride!! Put a measly 35 miles on it after closed the deal this afternoon. Puts the other bike I have to shame. Speaking of shame, OK total green F'up here...took seat off to get manual out etc. Got front seat back on, placed rear on (not seated just right) and leaned on seat to reach over bike and get something...hear the lock click into place but since not seated right now the thing is locked down and I cannot undue it! Tried to crank the key a bit in the seat relesae and dang they are SOFT keys. Bent lower 1/2 of key (got that straightened out) but seat will not release! Any suggestions?? Guess I will just go back to dealer tomorrow AM and hope the service guys have an easy fix. Dont completely trust the key that bent (may be weak now) but it does start up the bike. Will use the other as primary key...crap. Oh well, still an awesome 1st day and first impressions are WOW. :yahoo:

That's a first for me! Never heard of a seat locked down cockeyed.

No advice I can give ya other than putting pressure on the seat while working the key.

Glad the rest of your day went well. Congrats on the new 08 fjr! :)

Actually had the sales guy do that to me when he was going over the sale checklist. I was able to push down on the seat and turn the key. Good luck!

Ditto, try pushing down on the seat while turning the key. I got mine stuck once and actually had to sit and bounce on the passenger seat to get the lock to turn. Glad no one got a picture of that.

I did the same thing the first time I had the seat off. Finally pushed on it right and managed to turn the key and off it came. Welcome from southern California. Which one are you, Watson or Crick, and aren't you a little old for motorcycling?

Thanks all, pushed on it right (with help of wife) and off it came (might be a joke in there somewhere). Thanks for the welcomes and of course the support, this is a great forum/resource. I'm just a youngster compared to Watson or Crick, but in the molec bio field and certainly reaping the rewards of the DNA discovery.

Cobra, I thoroughly enjoyed your signiture statement about the sniper. I myself am a former 8541. Made me smile...

With a new fjr you'll get excited an goof up if you don't settle down a bit. I know. Dropped my the second day at a gas pump. Watch that crummy little side stand.

Thanks for the welcome. Will do my best to be careful. Ordered the frame sliders just now, went with the Skyway Delrin...Other tips to share besides those posted on the new members area?

I would recommend the throttle spring release as soon as you can. I didn't do ti for 7500 miles then did it and went for a ride in Arkansas and Missourri and it is like I got a new bike all over again. It is worth the effort and takes about 20 minutes.
