After spending most of the winter with lower back pain, seeing my Chiropractor with no real relief, I went to my primary care physician. I was having muscle spasms and she prescribed Etodolac 400 MG, a muscle relaxer. It did the trick. Hope you get better soon and back on two wheels.

I have been surfing this board and posting, but I have not said much about my new bike, I took delivery four weeks ago.
They took it out of the crate, assembled it, put fluids in it including gas, and turned it over to me. The odometer read all zeros when they gave it to me. I thought, oh, that's neat! I have never purchased a vehicle before with zero miles. We went over all the controls (I am not new to bikes and I test rode one a few days earlier) and the complete turn over list. Everything was fine.

I took off for home. When I got to the first traffic light, wow, almost no brakes. It really took me by surprise how weak they felt. Then I realized what it means to have zero miles and what I had always heard about breaking in the brakes. In all the new bikes I have purchased before and the demo rides I have done before I have never experienced this lack of brakes before.

Of course there is nothing wrong with the brakes, they are normal now. But then I thought, hey, they didn't even test drive the bike before turning it over to me. I'd better remember that after they do the 600 mi service.

I love the bike, unfortunately, I got a severe lower back pain three days after I picked it up so it sits in the garage with 240 miles on it.

Love that raven black.

Your near miss should serve as a reminder to all who buy a new bike. New bikes should be road-tested by a mechanic before the owner takes the keys. I bought mine from D&H and Nick put his standard 10 miles on the clock to make sure everything was tickety-boo.

Congrats on the purchase, but I agree with the majority here that a shake down cruise by the dealer's mechanic seems to be the safe and proper standard operating procedure. Glad that brake issue didn't turn into a disaster. If the back doesn't get better in a couple of days a trip the local MD would seem indicated unless this is a chronic problem. Remember that the FJR has adjustable bars if your position on the bike seems to be contributing to your problem. Get better and get out and ride.
