This is insane. My buddy Dave Cook (Alias ScrewballDave on this forum) just paid 15,800 for one 3 weeks ago. How in the world, or maybe I should say WHY... would any dealer sell a 2013 for a price like this?

Chaparral likes to play the stupid games. Yes the bike may be selling for 12,590 but they will add huge fees. I was in there a few weeks ago looking at an FZ1 for my wife. It was a 2012 with a MSRP of 10,590 but it was on sale for 8000. They wanted to add on 960 for delivery and 825 for set up, plus TTL. Total BS if you ask me. The funny part is that the sticker says "delivery included in MSRP" and when I called out the salesman on it he said those are our fees and what you have to pay.

I laughed and walked away and ended up with a BMW F700gs for about 400 more OTD then Chap wanted for the fZ1 with all the fees.

They are great for trying on gear and sitting on bikes but never, ever buy a bike from them.

EDIT: And by the way, I got the same flier today and the FJR for 12,590 is a 2012 not 2013.

Other stealers play those games too....TEMECULA Motorsports does the same thing with "delivery" and "set-up" fees......sad thing is some people will pay it!!

I asked the sales guy why insult people with $1,700.00 in additional fees his response was "hey we have to feed our families too"

A dealer in my area has started just listing monthly payments on their bikes, where a '13 was cheaper than a non-current '09 AE, guessing the length of the payments were different, but thought it was funny they didn't list the their "asking" price.

A lot of people don't look at an Out The Door Price. They look at how much do I have to scrape and scrimp together each month to make my payment... They don't shop price, they shop monthly payment. Worse thing you can do is go into a dealership (be it car/truck/bike) and tell them how much you can afford per month...

Yes, unfortunately that is the way for some, to base it on a monthly payment. Dealers like that alot!

When I shop for cars or bikes, I am usually asked "how much do you want your monthly note to be?" I usually respond, with a straight face, "I'd like my monthly note to be about $25 or less." I've had salesmen walk away from me after I said that.

Easier for me cuz I usually never get to meet a salesperson (anymore),

I ask the ball and chain.. "honey, can we go look at the new models?" her "are you f'n kidding me?, we don't need any more of your man-toyz in the garage!"

But, It seems like it's always Okay for new f'n shoes!
