I installed some new brake lights on my FJR. I found these https://www.needlights.com/gl3.html, and this flasher https://www.3rdbrakeflasher.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=181. I found both of these retailers to be very good. The shipments were on time and exactly what they had described.

When I traced the brake light wiring I had a plesant surprise. The previous owner had already done some of my work for me.

The flash pattern is changed by shorting 2 wires on the flasher so I added a momentary push button switch and put everything in the smallest work box that radio shack had.

I made a plate out of 1/8th inch aluminum sigh material.

Here is the finished product.

This is a night video of the lights. Couldn't figure out how to embed it.

The lights are fairly narrow beam the vehicle directly behind me gets the full blast as you can see in the video. The vehicle in lanes next to me still get a much brighter light but not completely obnoxious.

If someone hits me from behind now and says they didn't see me. They are blind.

I'm a little curious: the specs on the lights include

"Standard Mode: 10 different Flash Patterns plus Steady Burn.

Synchronize Mode: 7 Different Flash Patterns each with Phase 1 and Phase 2."

and product description includes

"With 10 different built in flash patterns you can choose the pattern that you want. This four wire GL3 allows for synchronization for simultaneous or alternating patterns.

So why the need for a separate flasher unit?

Because the built flasher will just continually flash. As bright as it is that would be too much. With the flasher, it flashes up to 6 times and then burns steady.
