The cost savings from deleting the baro sensor on the '06 & '07 may have been less than what they are going to spend replacing '07 ECU's.
Yeah, but the system needs it. Tweaking the ECU isn't the expesive part, it's giving them away that hurts. That's what they get, though, and I'm sure they budget for it to some extent.

They'll pay for it until they fix it.
Won't they get the old ECU's back and reprogram them?

Probably not. The primary focus would probably be on production. They'll likely do the math, suck up the loss and get back to work.

Talking to my dealer this am, says the first few chips out there are "field tests" and that no more chips are coming until they decide if the fix is really a good fix. This makes sense, as I know from the software world, about 15% of all software fixes do fix the problem, but introduce some unthought of problem. He expects a real bulletin and ECUs to be released in about a week. He says I am #2 on his list. This guy is a straight shooter, so I know this is what he was told. Now if Yamaha gave him BS, I can't speak to that.

Somebody (else) should determine exactly how much more the G2 throttle tube must be twisted to produce the same throttle opening as the OEM tube at 20 degrees. :)
If you compared two bikes that had PCIIIs, one with the G2, and the other without, you could measure the grip twist difference, because the PCIII software tells you the throttle opening, assuming it is calibrated properly, which it usually is and is easy to calibrate anyway.

Can't you do the same thing with the stock display panel when you enter diagnostic mode? It's been a while since I did the Barbarian jumper mod, but I could have sworn there was a throttle number on there too. IIRC it started at 16 or something and went up as you twisted.

Diag mode 01 will indicate tps position in degrees. A stationary pointer and a degree wheel on the grip would work.

"Ramping up" with stock tube and then with G2 tube would answer this question.

Good idea.
