I had my bike at the dealer a couple of weeks ago to have them do the VIN inspection to transfer the YES warranty, told them about the recall while I was there, and a week later they had the part in and told me to bring the bike by when I could. Sorry to hear your dealer is giving you the run-around.

No problem for me either : called the dealer where I did the first tune up (didn't buy the bike from them), they had ECU's in stock ! I could stop by any time and wait while they would change it -20min tops they said. But since I wanted to do the other recall too, they had to order the gauges cluster. The following Friday, parts where in. Left the bike in the morning - picked it up Saturday. Now with the new ECU, I get way better instant gas mileage !

My dealer called me a good 2 weeks before I got the letter from Yamaha. The delaer said we ordered you ECU and we'll call you when its in. They changed it while I waited. Great service from a great group of folks at Yamaha City in Philly.

Finally got the ECU swapped out. Dealer seemed to have a problem giving me a call to let me know it was in. I'll have to wait to give it the real test probablly not until spring or when the roads open is when I can get to the proper altitude in the Sierra's. Until then....PM. <>< :D

Local dealer called today to say the ECU is on backorder status and they'll call when it comes in. They were told it wouldn't be long. Not a problem for me. I appreciate them letting me know.

Didn't ya know, Dealers phone only work one way! They don't call out...very frustrating and know the feeling.

Glad you got it taken care of despite the phone problems.

I just got mine replaced today.

I never did get a letter from Yamaha but my bike is in the range. Stopped by the local dealer and he was not aware of the exchange. He looked it with me while I was there and after a short read said he would order it. It took 3 or 4 days to come in then we scheduled it for today and I waited about 50 minutes for them to complete it.

Well, when the service department doesn't call me back when they say they would (not the first time or issue), I now call Yamaha Customer Service and let them call the dealer back for me, (and no phone calls are only part of the equation here, so don't get me started), don't know if it helps get the dealers attention or not, but maybe they know who I am now. Remember me, I'm the guy thay bought your most expensive flagship bike and really that's the only thing I ever did to them so what's up wif dat? If you woop a good dog long enough even he'll leave. This is why I try and do "all" my own work if possible. PM.

What a blessing to have a dealer that really works with me. Got the letter, called my dealer, ECU arrived in 5 days, they call me to schedule appointment, they swap it out in 1 hour without futzing up my farkles. Love it. Never got a BMW dealer to do that kind of work

I took my bike in last Saturday to get the ECU replaced and because there was a problem with the rear brake. Long story short, no ECU is stock and my rear brake assembly has to be replaced (at Yamahas' expense) also not in stock with Yamaha. So I ask when will they be available, answer from Yamaha: unknown.

Can I get bike back to ride? No, no rear brake assembly.

Best answer I get is maybe by the end of the month.

I'm thinking maybe a free extended warranty for my hassle. ;)

Called the dealer last week, ECM kit showed up this week, they called, went in this morning -- all went smoothly.

FJR rides fine with the new ECM, no issues at all.
