Well guys and gals...

It's time.

After 1.5 years of looking and reading and figuring out what I want, I'm about to sign on the dotted line by this Thursday. The reason why it took so long is I didn't have the funds for a bike a year ago, so I had to be very sure of whatever I purchased would be a great fit for me. Now I have the funds, I already know the FJR is the one for me.

The BMW was on the short list. But I couldn't justify paying the thousands in the difference, plus the issues with maintenance costs and the reliability reputation wouldn't get me to return back to the BMW dealership for another look.

The dealer has one 07A remaining. There is an an 07AE on sale, but I like the cherry color over the silver. I argued to myself several ways about the AE, but I want control that a clutch provides.

I'm very excited! Whooo hooo!!!! :yahoo: :clapping:  :yahoo:

This is great!!!

Now it farkling time: need sliders for bar ends and the fairings, heated seat, heated grips, cruise control, radiator guard, tank bra, windshield (gonna be tough picking this one), driving lights, headlight guards, ...what else? hahaha

Very excited here!!!!

Very cool. I remember when I bought mine (already lightly farkled) and thought, man I don't really need to add anything. Now I finally have a few things on the "to-add" list.

I wouldn't do them all at once though. Add one at a time and put some time beteween them. That way you don't end up finished so quickly and have that feeling of nothing left to do.

Good for you! I have only had my '07 AE a couple of weeks so your feelings are something I can relate to. I also know what you went through with the AE arguement. I decided the other way based on the logic "I already have had bikes with a clutch lever, let's try something new". I honestly love the AE and am not sure I would go back to the usual way of shifting.

Have fun with the new bike. I certainly am.

Don't forget to add studded snow tires to your farkle list.

I lived in Denver for a few years and remember well the fun of sliding down a slushy mountain road this time of the year trying to extend the riding season :eek:hno-smiley02:

Congratulations! I'm sure you will love the bike. My wife and I have had ours for about 6 weeks now, almost 800 miles. One of our first rides was up through Evergreen. We still have some great riding weather, yesterday afternoon we did a 90 mile loop up the Big Thompson and through Estes Park. It was supposed to be a 30 minute ride, but once we got started it was too beautiful to go directly home. Happy Trails.

Congrats. We've all been there and have real nice bikes. Wish I could afford a new one like you though!!

Well Eagle, this is a very exciting time. Seems like it wasn't that long ago I bought my 06, oh it wasn't, that I too had looked for almost a couple years at bikes and sport tourers inparticular that I knew the FJR was my bike. I didn't have the money either so decided that I could re-fi and pay off some bills and buy my bike since my house was almost paid for and I could write it off in return. I don't regret one minute of the purchase and like some have stated here when I go into the garage the FJ still brings a smile to my face, and I can say "that is my bike". Happy riding and just be careful as this mochine will creep up on you before you know it you can be in over your head. But the main thing is to just enjoy and let the farkling begin. Besides thats half the fun. Ride safe and welcome and just don't get too... :king: PM. <>< :yahoo:

Congrats on your new purchase. She is a wonderful machine.

Farkels? Oh boy, you have a great list started huh? G-2 throttle mod would be my first choice. Big difference. Yet to do the TRS mod but on the list.

Oh, be sure to mention the recall going on now. Might as well get that out of the way if indeed your new ride falls under it.

Happy riding!

Wow, thanks for the encouragment guys... and tks for the tips on the farkles!! Today I put the deposit down on the bike and very excited.... it's gonna come straight out of the box into assembly and then into my arms.... No one is gonna ride her but the assembly guy. The dealer is gonna give deliver it via truck to my home. :yahoo:

Hey John, I live in Evergreen!!! Maybe we could get together on a ride sometime. Is there a sport-touring club here in Denver? :clapping:

Evertime I think about seeing the FJR in my carport I :dribble: .

Hey, does anyone polish and wax their bike for extra protection, or something similiar?

Good for you!! I just got a very slightly used 06 FJR & have started down my Farkle road also. Lots of good suppliers are linked thru here. I went with Skyway's for sliders & am very happy.
