IMO, expecting that wrecks (low or high sides included) are going to happen and being resigned to them simply increases your risk that it will happen because of the mindset that there's nothing you can do to reduce that risk.

Fatalism can be fatal.

Iggy hit the nail on the head.

Get a dirt bike, any dirt bike, ride the absolute hell out of it, crash the hell out of it, etc.

Do this for about 2,000 hours or more. Then, get back on the FJR.

Nothing the FJR does from that point forward will faze you because you've already experienced( and learned to react to) every horror a bike could throw at you. Seriously.

I don't know if I'd advise FJR riders to go to the extreme of "crash the Hell out of it".

Most of us are in our 50's, 60's and 70's and take a LONG time to heal.

I have a friend that's been riding dirt for years,he's in his late 50's, he went down at about 15MPH and hit the ground HARD, broke 3 ribs, Collar bone, and his arm!! Worst he's ever been hurt in the dirt, doesn't ride dirt anymore cuz it took so long to heal.
