Well, the wait is almost over. Tony (Yamaha Sportscenter - Texarkana) called me with the big news.........my bike is in. I'm renting a one way car next Monday, driving to Texarkana and will ride my bike home, taking the scenic routes. I estimate I'll have a couple thousand miles by the time I get home. Might as well break it in right.........no wussy trailer for this bike!

Here's my questions, does the '06 model come with the bag liners / removable bags and will a small Dell laptop fit in a side case? I won't have the top case for the trip, so I'll strap a duffle bag, but want to ensure my pc is safe, should I run in rain.

Thanks for the info.

Fits ok in my 04, but you might want to wrap it w/bubble wrap or something like that as the ride is a little rough on 'em. Found this out the hard way

:jester:

Yes, the laptop will fit. When I commute to work I carry a Latitude D600 in a side case, and a C640 before that. Laptop goes into it's backpack, backpack goes into the side case, I do not use the bag liner.

Done it myself with a Dell CPx and some bubble wrap on one trip. But if I were to do it regularly, I'd look at doing something like HMarc's Pelican Case Farkle

Hmmmmmmmm..........no trailer. Some of you other waiters should take note of this. No sand storm shall take him down, no thundering lightning and rain shall slow his progress.....he shall make it home, my friend.....he shall make it home.

I also have a D600, so all is good. Thanks for the info. Now I can work in the evening and write-off the miles. I might make a little cash on this trip........!

When I moved to Signal Mountain a few years back, I had (3) street bikes. It gave me a great excuse to ride all of them. I refused to rent a trailer, instead I'd ride one, fly home, ride another, fly home again and ride the last one. Oh the joy....! Now, the cages got towed by the moving company.........but not the bikes! I wouldn't dare trust those goons with my machines!

Ride on brother......ride on!

i thought i'd make two modifications to hmarc's idea:

1: add a mount for a removable back rest for a pillion

2: ask gerauld to engineer a way to mount a pelican case to his custom rack...
