Morning all. New guy from what the city dwellers regard as upstate. Originally from NYC (Queens). Been up here on a few acres for a few years now. Best move I ever made.
Anyway, I picked up my first FJR last week from New Jersey. One owner (now in his 70's) 2010 with 5,800 miles. Even has original tires (which I'm swapping out this week). I paid $6,000 for it which I think was a bit of a steal. I've been riding since I was a kid but this is my first FJR. I've had 70's Honda minis, mopeds, a CB650, a Nighthawk S, an Intercepter/VFR750, and a VFR800. As you can probably tell, I like sport-cruisers. So the FJR I guess is a natural progression now that I'm 50.
I'd give it a 9/10 for shape. It's been dropped standing still so has a few cosmetic blemishes (trans cover, fairing crease, mirror scratches, etc.). Minor but noticeable. I'll address those in time. Back brake is not working very well at all so I guess I'll follow the braking sequence suggestions. Right front mirror is loose - should be easy fix with some loc-tite.
I already picked up a brand new 39L case in the box, plate and hardware from a Gen I and adapted it to fit the stock carrier. Found that on FB Marketplace from a guy who smacked up his bike and never used the case $340 for everything including the spacers/bushings. All I had to do was cut the bushings a bit. The holes on the plate line up perfectly.
