So,

Pop's calls up to tell me that he and the wife are stopping by on the way to Seattle to see her Grandkids for Christmas. They are bringing the Toy Hauler and would I like to have the Norton? Uh, yes! Yes I would!

This bike is steeped in family folklore. Like the time he set the workshop on fire after he started it up sans exhaust pipes. I rode her when I was a kid, scared the hell out of me! Up till then, the biggest bike I had ridden was a 175 Yamaha 2 stroke Trials bike, man, what a difference!

She has sat for many years now, tucked away in the corner of his garage, waiting patiently to once again feel the wind in her hair. Sadly, she will have to wait a while longer while I find some fun coupons to throw her way. There is lots of work to be done, parts to be found, but I will enjoy it as I remember the old days.

Here is my new, old 1974 Commando!

Every rider should have one old bike to work on and ride. Makes them appreciate how much better the new bikes have become after all those years.

Mine is a '77 BMW R75/7.

Groovy thing, Gregory.

Sharing space with a crusty old Brit.

(Reminds me of the time I split a motel room with Rogdeb.

It's fantastic you now have your Father's Norton, as ****** up as the English are they truly built the World's Most Beautiful Motorcycles ever.

Norton's Rule!

Perfect thread to re-run a Norton Christmas video.

I hope you don't mind.

Don't mind at all Rushes, Seen it before and that is a great story. Pretty much sums up how I felt when Pop's offered her up.

Thanks for all the props to Pop's!

Very cool, it would be nice to have a Commando sitting next to the Trident. Very cool of your Pops!

Nice! Is it bad for me to say that I'd love to own a bike as old as I am! You know, just like that one!

It's not bad at all to say that gixxerjasen, I just need to find a 1948 Indian Chief for myself like this one:

Very cool ! I hope that the financing comes your way soon and you can put the bike back to the original condition. As a father and papa I am sure your dad would love to see the Norton ridden again.
