Managed to hit 30 degrees on the ride in this morning, and had one greasy bridge try to reach out at me - slippery bugger...

You got some ketchin up to do if you're gonna ride with the rest of the PNW crew in the winter:

Just great. I've got a lawyer and his mentally defective pro-bono case telling me I've yet to "become a man". Excellent start to my day! Next I'll probably find a circus midget sleeping under the Christmas tree and a three legged dog taking a dump in the kitchen sink.

OK, seriously. I'll try to do better. I promise. The gauntlet is down, and to be a man I need to get into the 20's. I got it. I'll pass on the icicles, though. ;)

Now, I gotta go roll the The Black Barge out of the garage to cool down so I can get a shot of the temp gauge in the 20's. ... If you'll excuse me...

I am new FJR pilot. Yesterday here in Austin Texas it was clear and pretty cold by our standards. I wouldn't normally commute in really cold weather, but I figured that if I commutted to the office (40 miles total) and then rode the bike this morning to Central Texas Powersports I would pull into the service bay with exactly 600 miles. Besides, I was sure my cow-orkers would want to bask the reflected glory of a brand new FJR.

The commute to work started at 34F and was up to 38F when I arrived. It was 20 miles of stop and go traffic. I didn't get cold at all, and I felt really sorry for the only other rider I saw, a police officer on a BMW RT. The poor fellow had a manual clutch, and I could feel his pain as his hand was surely cramping with the pain of operating that antiquated contraption in stop and go traffic.

Coming back last night it was again about 34F but I was able to go 50-65mph most of the way. I don't yet have a power socket for my heated vest, so my silk underwear and Joe Rocket mesh jacket with liner wasn't the best thing to be wearing. Worst of all I forgot my terrorist mask, and my chin got really cold. Thank goodness for my electrically adjustable windshield and grip warmers!!!!

Next winter I'm getting one of those CalSci larger windshields.

It was right at freezing this morning when I rode it to the dealer, but I was wearing a wool sweater under my jacket liner and lined work gloves, so I was fine at least for 20 miles. I do want to extend the wings and get a power socket for my vest ASAP.

I pulled in to the service bay with 601 miles. As a retired USAF navigator I felt pretty good about that. :assassin:

WOW, was it chilly this morning! Still, I was tough enough. I was man enough... and here's the pic! Read it and weep, ladies!

I think you need to go to Photoshop school and learn how to produce more convincing fakes! :D

I've never seen a RED temp display on my FJR!

But all you north end guys are wimps. We've had temps in the teens all week down south. Today was my 3rd day this week commuting to work at 16 degrees. Wednesday was even colder, but darn it, I had to take my son to the dentist and missed out on the coldest day of the year! :angry2:

That's 16 degrees Celsius, right? :D We know "ya'll" are faking the news reports of the cold temps to try to get sympathy before the Holidays... it's OK... ;)

And speaking of faking, I cannot believe you had the nads to call my image fake! I mean, really... fake? Come on... I'll have you know that temp was completely legit... verified by rolling down the drive'r side windo... oh, I've said too much...

It was 8 this morning and no way in hell the bike was leaving the garage, it's 65 in there. Had to let the truck warm up for 10 minutes before getting in it.
