New PR2's Today On My 2005

I just rode home from the dealership getting my new PR2's installed. I bought the bike used with around 28K on it late last fall and it had a pretty new set of Avon's. This is a sweet used FJR with a lot of farkles on it like electronic cruise control,(3) BMW style outlets, frame sliders, ram mounts and I put around 5K on the bike and those tires and though they never did anything wrong and I had the bike up to around 145mph with bags I never felt at home on the bike. I just couldn't seem to get the bike set in a corner, never felt like it should etc. From what I felt on the way home with only a couple of corners in high 30 degree temps and green tires the bike now feels much better like I thought it should have all along. I will post after it warms up and I can get the tires scrubbed in. I have read good reports about these tires here on the form which prompted me to order them. BTW I paid $390 OTD with the dealership taking the tires off the bike, mounting and balance etc. I think this was a very fair price considering what I have paid in the past at different dealers and what I have seen posted here for the tires. I would welcome comments about these tires pro/con from others here.

Post up if you feel the rear "step out" in a turn somewhere, I was dubious until I felt it a couple times.

Like the tire's wear, but the slip gives me pucker, wonder if the PR3's do it too?

My PR2 front seems fine.

Just had a set of PR2s installed today... gonna be a while till I know if I like them or not. They're replacing a set of Shinko 009s that I thought were 'ok'. It's still very, very cold here.

I am putting on PR2s for my longer trip this year. They are a good mileage tire for touring...and good in warm temps. Just keep a watch in lower temps...

My PR2 front seems fine.

I have not felt that on my PR2's and I ride it hard. I only get 4-5k out of the rear, which is almost twice what I got out of the Diablo's. The Diablo's were the best riding tires by far I have had but they simply did not last and I need all the mileage I can get in the new "Hope and Change" economy.

One reason it may not have slid on me is because I live in Texas where it never gets cold and, I ride the super poor performing Gen 2 bike that performs only slightly better than my rope start 4wheeler or my riding lawnmower. My next bike will definately be a ball-roasting Gen 1 with car tires on it. That seems to be the only bike to have around here......

Seriously,

I wonder if the loose slide feel has to do with the shorter wheel base and reduced weight of the Gen1? Maybe? The only time mine has been loose is tar snakes and a nice high speed slide in pea gravel in Arkansas. I saved that one or it would have been back to the hospital for another week of free flowers and sympathy from all my loved ones! And all the comments about selling that damn thing!

Same here with the tar snakes mostly when roads are wet or damp. On dry roads let her rip! Great mileage tire and I can't seem to wear my second set out which are still on the bike. I have a brand new set to go on before I leave for a trip in June. I am hoping to wear these damb things out before then. I don't want to put them back on when I get back. My original Bridgestone stuck pretty well but wore out to soon.

I replaced the existing tires on my newly purchased 2004 FJR last Spring with the PR2's. Put 10,000 miles on the bike last year and love the tires. Plenty of high speed straight line stability, tight cornering characteristics and excellent wet traction. The rear is due for replacement but the front still has life. I considered going with the PR3s but based on the limited feedback I think I'm going to replace both front and back with PR2s again. Paid $128 for the front 120/70ZR17 and $185 for the rear 180/55ZR17C. Spinning the rear in 2nd gear 2 day ago says time to replace now.
