New Respect for Kawasaki

While I was getting my new front tire put on this morning, I met a guy there with a Kawasaki Z1R with 99,0000 commuter miles on it! Not sure but that seems like a pretty fair amount of miles. Didn't know Kawi's had it in them

I have the KZ1300 motor out of Don Carver's bike in my shop for a rebuild and it has around 140,000 on it. Still ran fine but was using some oil.

Yes, Ray, but that Z1R is air-cooled. 99K is lotsa miles. Great motor.

Yeah I added an extra zero. Meant 99,000.

I know it is different, but there are a number of the old Concours with over 100,000 miles. Not rare at all.

Yeah, but see OM's post. Air-cooled is a bit different that water-cooled imho.

100K on my '89 FJ1200 when I sold it. Still ran like new, no smoke and strong like bull. 'Course it's a Yamaha..

99,700 on my brother's 2000 VFR800, touring and commuting miles. I put the first 93k on it. Although I have no hard numbers, my gut tells me Honda's quality since the mid-2000's has gone downhill.

My 03 Concours will turn 100K later this month, barring the unexpected.
