My front tire was alittle worn after my 1150mi trip to the dragon and blue ridge pky. I had been noticing the tread getting thin and this morning I noticed that some cord was going to start showing soon in some cupping areas I found so I figured it was about time. I did some searching and found a Metzeler Sport tec here locally for $112+tax. Not my 1st choice, I would like to have found something that would give me some more miles. Since the rear is still in good shape (Metzeler Road tec) I figured that the front will need changing again about the same time I will need a rear so I will just put a set on then. The local Yamaha dealer said they would mount and balance the new tire for $38 if I just brought in the tires off the bike. So in all it cost me under $160 for a new tire mount and balanced, I'm pretty happy with that.

The front tire, I found, Is pretty easy and straight forward to take off the bike. I didn't have any trouble with the break calipers or the pads falling out or whatever. They slipped off then slipped back on pretty easy with just alittle wiggling. So those of you that might be alittle hesitant about doing this, don't be.

This is how I changed my front tire when I was forced to buy one at 5200 miles while on vacation in Cody Wyoming....

Crappy factory tire.

Just switched from the worn out factory front Metzler (at 7,500 miles) to a Road Smart. The rear tire still has quite a bit of life left in it. For the past 2-300 hundred miles I've had to really push the bike OUT of corners. It didn't try to fall into them, it just didn't want to straighten out.

It felt like I had a whole new front end, not just a new tire. Smoother, lighter, and totally precise steering. :yahoo:

JUst got new Avons from there great price front and rear

I like the way you have lights mounted on the forks. What type of lights are they? And, what are you using to mount them?
