It happened in Warchild's and my back yard....in fact the cars are built in WC's hometown.

Jerod Shelby's Ultimate Aero set a new record for street-legal automobiles by going an average of 255.83 on a closed public road yesterday!

At $549,000 it beats the previous record of the Bugatti Veyron that's priced at about triple or $1.5 million.

One of my favorite touches was that in order to get certified by Guiness they enlisted the support of two "independent observers". They were two folks I've snowmobiled with and know are speed junkies....but also were "Tri-Citians of the Year"...so kinda trustworthy types.

Clicky on the local newspaper article.

When are you arranging my tour of their facilities with you? Let me know and I'll be there in a heartbeat...

A WSR of 256? Kinda shoots a hole in their claim of 272 as the top end.

1st 3.00:1 7200 58.517
2nd 2.15:1 7200 81.651

3rd 1.5:1 7200 117.033

4th 1.1304:1 7200 155.294

5th 0.8667:1 7200 202.557

6th 0.6452:1 7200 272.102

Final Drive Ratio: 3.4444:1

Engine RPM @ 60 Top Gear: 1550
Oopsie!

I didn't catch their claim of 272....somewhere in the literature?

I just interpreted it as they exceeded the speed of any other car....and would presume they have some reserve to go up from there. They do say the speedo only goes to 260.

It's listed in the spec sheet, Igg. I'm guessing they calculated the speeds based on HP/Cd/Gearing/etc. Common for mfgs to post theoretical times and speeds for fluff... not like skooter fluff, though.

THIS....THREAD........IS........WORTHLESS.........WITH.....OUT...............PICTURES!!!!!!!

Cool looking ride. Much nicer lines than many of the exotics (IMO)

well except it doesn't have that ugly treatment behind the window pillar like the lambo and has a nicer, longer upturned rear decklid more akin to an Acura NSX than a Mclaren

Darn, all these 200 mph + cars look the same. kinda.
