New Tire Problem

Ok, I got the replacement tire remounted by the little shop of motorcycle horrors about 60 miles from my house. That whole experience sucked. The guys at the shop were great, the bike is now WONDERFUL, but it was 98 freakin degrees. And I got railroaded. By a coal train. On the highway. In the middle of a construction zone. At the beginning of peak drive time. I about passed out when I finally got to the shop.

At least I didn't get drenched by the numerous tstorms in the area. Although a little rain might have been nice at that point!

The replacement front tire rides beautifully. There is very little vibration and the loping is all gone. The tire feels sticky and confident in the turns. It was even good on the wet roads (I just missed 2 storms).

So Tomahawk stood by their product and replaced the tire. They said they would reimburse me for the tire change, too. Fair enough.

The service manager at the little cycle shop (of whores...er..horrors...er... well...anyway..) looked at the dismounted defective tire with me and we still could not see a visible defect. Although we KNOW there's a high spot in the tire. And I was able to put 1500 miles on the defective tire without problems other than loping.

Now we'll see how they do in "normal" service.

Was the tire in question mounted correctly?

Did the directional arrow rotate forward? It wasnt mounted backasswards, was it?

Ive used recap dirtbike tires for years. But, even then it was for slower less rotational speeds, than what your expecting from your FJR tires.

Good Luck! Safe riding! Yadda, yadda, yadda ! Have Fun! :D

I had a avon ST front that had an out of round area, off to one side of center, that showed up in left hand sweepers. The dealer mounted and re-mounted the tire 3 times. The tire would seat prefect on the rim, but had this area that was not round. Avon and the dealer covered all the costs and I put on 2500 miles on the tire too boot. Fred

I don't know why you were so worried about the tread separating.

After all, that only happens with Metzelers, right? :haha: :bleh:

I dunno.... I'm kinda likin' the T-3 tires. Looks like a good tire at a helluva price. In black, of course. The blue looks kinda cool, but I'm not a squid....

Keep us posted on how they do.
