New Tires - Road Pilots.. !!!

Didn't say He did, only that He runs Avons. Said He'd like to ride the FJR but Duc is His money....I test rode three Ducs last Sunday and wouldn't own the Multistrada 1000 with 4K power band. For a playing around in the mountains the little Multi 620 was awesome handling with plenty of grunt for the hwy too, Favorite was the Monster 695 with lower cg & better motor plus excellent handling.....MSRP about $7500

Just got back from putting 1200 miles on my new set of PR's. They are absolutely great tires. I put the PR on the back and the new PP2CT on the front.................great combo. The new duel composite of the PP2CT seems to be holding up pretty good and I could sure tell a difference for the better while on the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway. I hope they hold up and give me some good mileage. So far I really likey both

so... I have been in contact w/ Mich rep discussing this "new" Pilot Road mystery. So in a nutshell, here's the scoop: (contact person not to be divulged)

As you may appreciate - nothing is forever and all tyres are under

constant review - there may have been a small change in tyre compound or change

in casing construction which would account for an improvement in mileage or wet

grip -

If our technicians have carried out these modifications - they have not told us

I believe it's safe to bet there is no "new" version of Pilot Roads (see post # 13 above) or hype/ advertisment would have been out regarding them. Just doing some sleuthing...., Roamer

I have Pilot Roads on my Tuono and love them. As soon as my FJR needs new shoes Michelin will get a call.

The Stealer talked me into pilot powers for my summer tyres because the pilot roads were backordered. I wore out the rear in 3K and now have the perfect combination...A pilot power on the front and a pilot road on the rear. I expect the front to last about 8K which is perfect because I always need a new rear after 4K.The '05 came with the WC death metzlers & they were OK, but wore out @ 4K.

Then I tried Pireli Diablo Strada EMS which lasted 4K - great winter tyres.

Then I tried Avons which lasted 4K - they were OK

Then I got the summer tyres above - sport bike tyres on an FJR - and got 2 performance awards in 90 days.

OK, that plan was AFU . My front pilot power tire is toast after 6K :angry2: . It looked OK until I took it for some serious solo twisty riding after the Hwy 36 ride which wore it down to a cupped up POS :angry2: . I'm getting a new Pilot Power 2CT with the new dual compound on the front tomorrow

Got 13 grand on my rear avon as we speak....still waiting for twowheelworld to call me and let me know I got my change coming up....as the center is worn(damn wfo-05......drunk bastards).
